I'm from Ireland, truly sorry that we've unleashed this cunt upon the world. It was always inevitable that he would get involved in the far-right grift, since he's fading to irrelevance. He's like an Irish Kanye, so far up his own arse he hasn't seen daylight in years.

Ra_ist arsehole (fill in the blank)

[–] TheOctonaut@mander.xyz 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The IRA would've put this prick in a wheelchair. Perhaps we've thrown the baby out with the bathwater.

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Wheelchair? Weren't they more known for body bags?

[–] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They are referring to kneecapping, a traditional Irish punishment for... well, anyone that doesn't deserve a killing.

[–] TheOctonaut@mander.xyz 14 points 3 months ago

Informants and traitors, especially.

The Provisional IRA was an explicitly left-wing socialist group (if not quite Marxist like the Official IRA were), the defanging of which has let right wing rats like McGregor get a bit brave.

[–] Baggie@lemmy.zip 15 points 3 months ago

Thanks for the apology mate, but we don't blame you. Cunts hail from every corner of the world, we just have to do better at handling them together.

Otherwise 100% spot on though.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

As an American, just know that you have nothing to apologize for, and our embarrassment is much worse.

If only the laws worked the way they do now (and my dad was still alive), I'd be getting my Irish citizenship and sharing your much milder embarrassment.

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You can get it with proof of Irish parents or grandparents.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

My dad would have been able to do it, then I could have. My grandfather was first generation, so I can't unfortunately. My dad passed a few years ago due to ALS, so I'm SoL on that.

[–] Squizzy@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You likely have a case for Asylum these days which is a nice silver lining.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 months ago

Soon enough, yeah.

Its OK, my backup/escape plan is a digital nomad visa, then go from there. Thankfully I clear all hurdles for any of the countries offering them, I am OK (not great, but OK) at a few languages, etc. Saves the asylum option for others as things progress in the worst direction....

He's like an Irish Kanye

Might I suggest McGanye?

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 6 points 3 months ago

I'm from the US, and I would like to say, your apology is truly unnecessary. We, and much of the world, could stand to learn a lot from Ireland

[–] Roundeyegweilo@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Yank here. You have nothing to apologize for. We've unleashed far more absolute fuck heads onto the world than yous have, for sure.

You guys got him and Bono.

We've got like.... Damn near everyone else. Of anyone should be apologizing, it's me 😂

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I dunno, Canada gave us Justin Bieber, the Brits gave us Russell Brand, every country has someone to apologize for, we just have a lot more of them. Except Sweden. Sweden is good.

[–] Delphia@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

The difference between Connor and Kanye is that Id tell Kanye what I thought of him to his face.

Jesus, they think anything left of Attila the Hun is far-left

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 14 points 3 months ago

Attila was WOKE for DESTROYING THE EMPIRE

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

IIRC nomadic peoples like the Huns actually had a society based on communal property. It was closer to a conservative take on anarcho-syndicalism than today's system.

They are squarely right of Attila.

[–] sushibowl@feddit.nl 2 points 3 months ago

Very little is known about the Hunnic culture, so it is not really possible to establish this with any certainty. That being said, it's pretty typical for pastorial nomads like this to collectively own and care for their herd. Although it's also worth noting that communal property does not usually extend between different tribes, even when these tribes were united to some extent, such as under Attila.

In general it's difficult to fairly place ancient tribal societies into the modern day political spectrum. The structure and scale of societies has changed radically.

Man I remember when Connor was the guy, i would gripe online about what a piece of shit racist, and general garbage person he was. I would get downvoted to hell on Reddit for hating on him and saying he was a shit person.

"Far left" my ass. It's the same flipflop of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael that's been in the Dail since the Anglo-Irish Treaty.

McGregor should be exiled to one of the minor islands so all of his neighbours can personally know and hate him.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 7 points 3 months ago

As long as there's no women there

[–] froggycar360@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I read this in a thick irish accent

[–] rambling_lunatic@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

The great irony is I'm not a native here.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I think shit-for-brains might be a literal description of Conor.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Something about brain injury seems to turn people to the right.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 7 points 3 months ago

Paranoia and stupidity.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 19 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Man who gets punched for a living demands fascism.

[–] WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago

Heavy blows to the head, repeated multiple times over the course of several years, will cause brain damage.

[–] Thcdenton@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

God damn he's gettin old.... And I'm a year older than him fuuuuuuuccccckkk

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 11 points 3 months ago

His livelihood does involve repeatedly receiving impact to his head so unless you're in a similar line of work there's a good chance you've aged better.

More women need guns. We live in a world where rape isn't even punished. Blow these people away for good.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 23 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Wrong country. This is not about burgerland.

[–] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 9 points 3 months ago

Lol, yeah, I'm a dumbass. I even read it and still commented that. Why I leave comments on stuff immediately after waking up, I'm not sure, but it's not helping me.

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Would be a neat experiment though...... Allow guns in Ireland, but only for women. I don't think it's a great idea, but it would be interesting.

That i can agree with :D
