When did I say morality is relative?

And how wealthy would he be by then

Why does it take God our entire lives to decide whether we are accepted? What about babies that die during birth or shortly after? How can they prove their faith?

Simple. Mercy. If we screwed up, then God would destroy us immediately. If God were to just stop evil happening on Earth, he'd have to kill everyone at the first moment that they sin. Either that or take away free will.

I would say that the resurrection was just part of the religious texts written by monks, not necessarily something that was 100% true.

Biblical scholars would disagree. The earliest text that we have that mentions the resurrection was written by AD 51.

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10

For the people of those regions report about us what kind of welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath that is coming.

Again, it's worth mentioning that immediate writings were VERY RARE then. The entire Gospel of Mark would have cost the same as a house for a scribe to copy. Which is why we don't have many writings from that time.

Like the ginger gene. Sometimes if two people who aren't ginger but each have a ginger parent have kids, then you can get a ginger child

I'm referring to the ethnic Jews right now

[-] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I believe the two state solution is probably the most logical

[-] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 12 points 1 day ago

Although wouldn't kicking the Jews out of Palestine be doing exactly the same thing all over again?

[-] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 21 points 1 day ago

Yes? He's literally God and created the world. Doing other things as well like multiplying loaves and rising from the dead. I think He could make wine more and more concentrated, lol

It's perfectly okay to go the wrong way on the driving test in the UK, as long as you do so safely. Sometimes there are complicated places and weird roundabouts, it's better if you're in the wrong lane to commit to it

The chances of Northern Ireland hosting matches at the Euro 2028 football tournament appear to have gone.

The UK government announced on Friday night that the estimated cost of rebuilding Casement Park stadium in Belfast has "risen dramatically" to more than £400m.

The government said it will not be providing funding to redevelop the stadium in time for the tournament.

It said there was a "significant risk" that the stadium would not be built in time.

In order to be ready for the 2028 tournament, Casement Park needs to be rebuilt by the summer of 2027.

Northern Ireland could have a role as a training base or host warm-up matches at the existing Windsor Park stadium, but hosting tournament fixtures appears to be over.

Plans have been in place to build a new stadium at Casement Park since 2011.

The initial estimated cost of rebuilding Casement was £77.5m, with £62.5m coming from the Stormont executive and £15m from the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).

That was more than a decade ago, and since then costs have risen dramatically.

To try to cater for soccer as well as GAA matches increased the cost further, as UEFA requires a higher specification of stadium.

Although hopes of being part of the Euro 2028 tournament may be over, it does not mean the stadium cannot be rebuilt for the GAA, which was the original purpose.

However, that will not be cheap either, and the GAA will be hoping that even though the UK government has said it will not be funding a Euro 2028 compliant stadium, it may still contribute to the redevelopment whenever it happens.

The Irish government has already pledged more than £40m.

Just listened to the BBC Radio Ulster interview with the Deputy First Minister for Northern Ireland, Emma Little-Pengelly. I think it was a good response as she was condemning violence, but also acknowledging the problem and catalyst (a lack of social housing) and started talking about how she'll try and work to create more social housing so people aren't displaced by migration, etc. I think this was a common sense approach instead of just simply encouraging violence or declaring war on the rioters, which I feel like would just make things worse.

It is true, we should expand social housing. I think everyone can agree with that.

Hi, I'm running a ubuntu based backup server. And was wondering if there's a simple way to encrypt my drives in case they get swiped or something by a break in. But also in a way that the computer can be restarted and decrypt the drive without me needing to stick a key in everytime. Any ideas? It seems basic but I'm not an expert on all these newfangled encryption terminology, so would like something idiot proof (by idiot proof, not idiot enough to lose/forget the decryption key)
