a personal pet peeve is people always talking about how capitalism would be if it was "done right"
like, it's "done right" already, the purpose of it is not to create a society where people are treated fairly, without greed, shady practices or corruption
the purpose of capitalism is to make a number go up, its for a person to get richer, no matter the cost
honey you don't want a capitalism that's "done right", you want socialism
I think the issue is everyone has their own personal definition of what capitalism is. To some it just means free markets. For people really unaware, it just means the existence of money ( I think that's what that physicist YouTuber thought it was). The ambiguity is convenient for the exploiters because if you don't understand the system, you can't change it.

Also worth remembering the privilege it takes to enter a Costco - you need to buy their stupid membership card, and now scan it every time you enter. Never sat right with me.

It's a capitalist solution to a capitalist problem - the problem of accessing the wholesale pipeline. It's obviously not this anymore anyway, but that's what the membership is for. You're buying at the "convenience store" level, but without the volume that's what the membership makes up for. Using Costco as your distributer is still a thing in rural areas, esp in Washington. Last time I was near Mt. Rainer there was a convenience store in the town that was clearly breaking up Costco packs, but they were like 1 of 3 places you could actually buy stuff.
You also generally need a car to shop there

If you buy directly from manufacturers you can get stuff way cheaper. Although in some cases Costco is probably the only way manufacturers let you buy in bulk.
Capitalism would be perfect if there was no middle man getting in between global south labor exploitation and my stomach.
The fact that pro-capitalism content is now being churned out clearly sponsored by the big corps or thinktanks or whoever is pushing these things is a solidly good sign of the current fearful mindset going on among the capitalists.
I would rather see a militant mindset going on among the workers. This is not a good thing

Costco has the same profit onus of every other company it just uses a slightly different business model that means ita members get huge volumes of cheap goods. That's it.
It is exactly as greedy as every company anykne dislikes. The oppression of capitalism is not due to greed, it is a built-in mechanism that profits must be maximized. It doea not matter how highly a business owner or customers think of the company, it is a profit-generating machine or it will die.
Example: Costco always fights the union.
If they mastered Capitalism then why haven't other businesses followed their models and plans?

costco has been doing a lot of youtuber sponsorships lately as well. genuinely have been seeing their logo at least once everytime i open youtube. they're really trying to push a good image for sure and it definitely wouldn't be suprising if it was related to the strike.

Their particular shareholders were pro DEI, so liberals are now doing free promotion for them.
Costco is one of the least-worst private employers. I don't really see how it's "cope" and not just a click bait title that's a cheap shit at drawing attention to this video.
Literally the only reason Costco workers get perks is the unionized stores. They give everyone the same benefits as the union stores as a tactic to discourage further unionization. I used to work for Costco and I have to say it sounded like an effective union busting tactic. I tried bringing up unionizing to some of my coworkers and the general response I got was "why bother? They already treat us pretty good"
