Static Shock, Kim Possible, Darkwing Duck

[–] thelsim@sh.itjust.works 8 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Basically any fantasy cartoon that featured a voyage or some kind of quest was a favorite when I was little.

  • The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin
  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Pirates of Dark Water
  • Conan the Adventurer
[–] loaf@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Dungeons & Dragons is such a classic. I still watch it on occasion.

The Tick.

I really enjoyed the comic book hero shows, and The Tick and Freakazoid were great fun to watch as parodies of the genre.

I was so happy to see The Tick get a couple of seasons as an Amazon show.

Then or now?

5 year old me: She-Ra

10 year old me: maybe Bugs Bunny honestly

Adult me: Bluey hands down forever. And my kids like it too.

This shouldn't be the answer because it's not really for kids. But it is, and will always be, The Simpsons.

Every evening at 6pm on UPN I would watch the Simpsons with my dad. I went from watching and understanding Bart to now watching with my daughter and seeing it through Homer's eyes.

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Tiny Toon Adventures, then Animaniacs.

Kinda giving away my age, but Animaniacs was right around the time I just started appreciating characters such as Minerva Mink and Hello Nurse.

Rugrats Marsupilami Spider-Man Gargoyles

Not tv cartoons, but cartoons either way: Mortadelo y FilemΓ³n AstΓ©rix

[–] sylver_dragon@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

My all time favorite was Robotech, though it has not aged well.
I also went through a lot of Disney in my youth:

  • Gummi Bears
  • Duck tales
  • Darkwing Duck

And then there was the smattering of others:

  • Dungeons and Dragons
  • Thundercats

Avatar The Last Airbender. I’m in my early 30s and do a rewatch almost every year.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Thundercats original series, and the original Dungeons & Dragons.

[–] Corno@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Samurai Pizza Cats. My grandma would have tapes of it so whenever I went over to my grandma's house, chances are this show would be playing at some point haha. The episode I remember the most is the one with the dragon.

Doraemon

This is a very big franchise in Asia but rarely mentioned in the west, so let me introduce it to (most of) you :>

Doraemon is a robot cat from the 22nd century who has gone back in time to help a kid named Nobita. He has a lot of wacky gadgets to offer. Each episode is basically a story about one of these gadgets. They also pump out a new movie every year.

Once I turned 10: SpongeBob and the Simpsons

Before that: everything, including PokΓ©mon, GummyBears, Darkwing Duck, I am Weasel, recess… I just loved everything!

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 2 points 11 months ago

Imma bend the rules:

Thunderbirds.

[–] Alice@beehaw.org 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

So many... The earliest cartoon I remember loving was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It was incredibly cozy. Then I discovered Cartoon Cartoons, especially Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter's Laboratory with their throwback art styles, and got obsessed with those for a while.

Eventually SpongeBob came out and became my personality, because he was basically an annoying kid trying his best to be friends with everyone like I was. (It's played out now, it wasn't back then.)

ETA how did I not mention classic Looney Tunes. Before we had cable I was really into the classics.

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Duckman. I still fall asleep with it sometimes.
