''In America workers are forced to pledge their allegiance to CEO's under threat of unemployment, when one of their own dies''

[–] MrPiss@hexbear.net 43 points 11 months ago (2 children)

At will employment in the US is crazy. We're approaching the point of swearing literal fealty to our corporate overlords.

Turns out capitalism over a long enough timeline becomes neo-feudalism.

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 26 points 11 months ago (3 children)

It's like the bourgeois only overthrew feudalism because they wanted to be in the cool, exclusive club, not because of any of the values the enlightened thinkers claimed.

[–] kittin@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

The difference between capitalism and feudalism is that the serfs had a right to their land

The very first piece of capitalist projection about socialism was "meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 11 months ago

Pretty sure they require workers at Disney parks to do that, or something similar.

Have solidarity with the person that is squeezing every penny out of you, your coworkers, and customers. Please, its the civil thing to do. ~~Just don't expect the same from them.~~maybe-later-kiddo

Yeah man I'm sure the CEO knows my name and my family and I'm totally not faceless employee #42069 on an excel document of who to fire on January 1st.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago

Don't be silly, they fire people before the holidays.

Well, pack it in folks. They cracked it. Forcing your employees to pledge their loyalty is the puzzle piece they were missing! With this new and bold strategy, socialism is just over.

It's not like people would lie. They don't even do that on the internet.

hey it's the same thing germany-cool tried to do with muslims and isntreal

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 28 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Reminds me of the "Covid Safety Requirements Agreement" I didn't sign at my old job

It was basically saying that as long as we washed our hands and stayed at our stations, we didn't need to mask or anything

Ended up fired for it, but fuck them

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 10 points 11 months ago

That's praxis folks!

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 28 points 11 months ago

Sure I'll sign it, can I use my initials? It's "D.D.D."

ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS

[–] mortemtyrannis@lemmy.ml 18 points 11 months ago

Unless they name the company who sent this and it’s corroborated by others I don’t believe this is real.

it would be funny if one of the employees somehow submitted a response anonymously via VPN or whatever that, instead of signing the pledge, is instead a pledge to dedicate themselves to kill as many of the executives as they can before they die.

and to specifically blame the pledge request as the thing that pushed them over the edge.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 11 months ago

Not only that the executives are good, that their insurance is vital to Healthcare in the USA.

you are required to say we are needed, oh you want Medicare for All that goes against your pledge so we're going to have to let you go
