Going to a wedding next week and am trying to figure out how to make a suit more androgynous/femme. I'm out to most of my cousins, but I'm only really close to a few people in the family. Everything online suggests doing a dress, which I personally am not about
A few thoughts some might not be possible in time, but firstly shapewear? Padded bra inserts, soft corset, maybe even something with thigh padding.
Basically taking advantage of the full coverage of the suit to hide the extra shaping going on. Bearing in mind extra heat (don't know which hemisphere you're in) and needing to urinate.
More feminine shirt? Something floral, silk, pink etc. you could even wear a woman's shirt/blouse under a man's jacket etc
Boots with a slight heel, subtle makeup, jewellery like rings and bracelets (chunkier makes hands and wrists look smaller) etc
I wouldn't actually wear a suit, I'd get really high waisted trousers, worn at the real waist (the narrowest of part of the torso above hips), and then wear a sports jacket in a different colour.
This gives a more feminine figure, shoulder pads in a jacket are cool too, because it obscures broader shoulders (makes it look the jacket not you).
Sports jackets often have a larger range of colour, I have a pink linen one that looks amazing, but something a light blue etc could look amazing. Just not white to a wedding.
Oh yeah jackets are great too because you can get a Boutonniere (flower through the button hole) or wear a pin with pride flag or pronouns etc.
These suggestions are very helpful, I'm gonna start by finding a shirt I like. I have jackets and maybe trousers that I can work with. Thank you!!
No worries. I hope it works well!
