Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.
She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying "It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know" and "And sure, you made her trans!".
So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that's neat.

People were thinking a brigade (12, I'm not joking) of wrecker alts might be linked to you for some reason. People were freaking out since you're a mod here, but the admins managed to find out it was somebody else.At least I think this is what happened, it's all so hard to keep track of. I stayed out of the struggle session, but it has to be the largest I've ever seen.
I know REgon did a summary in the thread, but the end result is that the admins are trying to clean it up, it became about so much more than the tanks, many people got banned in an ensuing chaos (then unbanned), and then TC69 resigned and deleted hir account.
Overall a lot happened, I can't even keep track of it all, and look up the user debatebro in the modlog and count how many of them there are.

In part because I am biased, in part because it's all mixed together memory-wise, in part because I get exhausted thinking about it all lol. But here is my best attempt at a somewhat neutral presentation of what went down. At least the big things.
I am skipping a lot of steps. But this is the basic gist of it as I see it, and seeing as how I was one of the Very Mad Online users, I think it at least gives an idea of how people one "my side" of the fence views the situation. I've tried to be somewhat neutral in the presentation of events and moreso just focused on how things unfolded. I did not succeed in this, but if you think this is biased, you should see what I would've done if I tried to be biased.
** There are still people around with legitimate grievances about this incident and if they feel like it makes sense I warmly and genuinely welcome them to expand upon those in response to this thread, but my impression is that we have generally moved past this point, so just please take it for granted that it's not important. If you talk to someone and it sounds important, then look into it, but most people will arrive at the position that it is no longer important, given where we are now at. It was fair to be mad about. It was also a rational action on carcosas' side. It's also fair not to find it fair. It is however, subjectively, not a big deal, at least not anymore. :::
