You think there aren't white people with cats called casserole and coleslaw?

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I was gonna say, both of those sound like probable pet names.

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago (2 children)

My wife is named Casserole and I take offence to this implication.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I was actually about to say that Coleslaw is a cat name and Casserole is definitely a dog name, but i feel like that's taken on boomer-hate-(your)-wife dimensions from this new revelation.

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I always thought her full name was Cassandra until 8 years ago when I looked at our marriage certificate.

Guy online trying to offend me by calling my wife a snack.

I type out a DM: "I'll have you know she's an entire meal. She's Casserole."

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

My offense is named Implication and I take casserole to this wife.

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'll try 🤷🏻

[–] mrfugu@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I just met a white guy with a small dog named Mayonnaise

Pets with random names are the best. They rock so hard.

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 55 points 4 days ago (2 children)

That would fail because white people love that shit.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 45 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Honestly yeah. My cats name is Bean lol.

Edit:

I'm the white people that be like

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 19 points 4 days ago

Yeah my gut reaction was "aw those are cute names".

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 51 points 4 days ago (1 children)

A cat named Lasagna would go pretty hard tbh

[–] LENINSGHOSTFACEKILLA@hexbear.net 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

90% of my friends growing up had a cat named Cheese, Cheeseburger, or Ham, short for Hamburger.

Cats in the states are almost always named after foods, flowers, or weird little guys

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

Yup, my kitty is named Alfredo

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 28 points 4 days ago

There was a cat at my local shelter named Gordita Crunch

[–] regul@hexbear.net 35 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

all of the people I know with cats named miso and mochi and similar are asian

[–] Carrot@lemmy.today 4 points 4 days ago

Same. It's just an anecdote, so take it with a grain of salt, but most of my Asian friends have pets with Asian food names

[–] coolusername@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

will tennyson the fitness youtuber's dog is named mochi

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 28 points 4 days ago (1 children)

One of the most famous cats on the internet, Grumpy Cat, was named Tardar[sic] Sauce, which was an attempt at spelling Tartare Sauce by the owner's then 6 year old child.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (3 children)

The hell 6 year old knows what tartar even is?

[–] context@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

served with fish sticks, i would guess

The kid's mother was a waitress, so potentially from that.

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 34 points 4 days ago

Miso is weird but calling a cat bun/cupcake/biscuit etc is all pretty good cat names.

I'm being ragebaited but how can you be upset at someone liking how your language sounds or liking food associated with your culture and wanting to think of it when they see someone they love?

Tater Tot is an acceptable cat name. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 26 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Sadly it's all cats are bourgeois

[–] Cordinel@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I thought women were the bourgeois

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

First off. Cats are girls, dogs are boys.

But more importantly. Cats are smaller and are therefore petit bourgeois

[–] huf@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago

petit purrgeois

[–] huf@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago

cats are women though. dogs are boys, cats are girls.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

Toad in the hole

[–] jollyrogue@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 days ago

I wanted my sister to name her ginger tabby Teriyaki, but I lost to the niblings who wanted to name him Cookie. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Do it! We need more Casserole' and Coleslaw' cats in the world!

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

casseroles aren't nearly cool enough for that to stick.
