Night in the woods, gonna finish it and watch video essays with my gf
Night in the Woods, that haunter of backlogs...

My gf told me it was one of those games that really affected her so I had to take it off the back burner and finish it. I get it and in a way made me feel like I understand her more now. I recommended a game to her in return that affected me that wasn't sonic or yakuza in disco eylsium so it goes both ways
Im planing to play 3k total war. The battle controls feel clunky. I don't like the multiple commander bodyguards or the hp. Sentinels seem useless, they should have merged champion and sentinel, as it is, the generic yellow line has better line infantry than the supposedly infantry focused sentinel.
It runs surprisingly well, and has a lot of cool effects not in other total war games, like the fires and the wind, and so on. Feels more dynamic.
Yeah one cool thing about modern Total War games such as 3 Kingdoms and Pharaoh is that they are very well optimized. (While also being quite pretty)
Yhea, it runs better 50% more fps than much older games, like thrones of Britannia.
Final Fantasy VIII, in addition to Splatter World, which is a game that still rules. I'm in Junctioning hell now though.

(disaffected teen boy voice) Whatever...
I am so ready for this game to be good.

It has the best 90s-ass ballad
of the three (four, if you count Treasure Chest of the Heart from Chocobo Racing lmao) games that have one.
Eyes on Me has:
A Titanic-ass tin whistle solo
Faye Wong (who was in the great 90s movie - Chungking Express)
I do appreciate that Melodies of Life and Treasure Chest of the Heart have extremely late 90s anime-feeling English translations for the localized games. They're kinda corny like the English Sailor Moon and Magic Knight Rayearth OPs.
Also, this cover is pretty great.

New Castlevania. It's good, but very different from old Castlevanias. And takes a while to get to where you feel capable. Excellent presentation, superb art design. I did accidentally beat a boss with like two spells so that was weird. But then I fought a boss that took me over an hour to practice to beat. It's got pretty good getting lost while exploring vibes that leave you unsure where to go, and you can just kinda keep seeing where you can go.
Braid is the plan. I started downloading it and then went out, so it should be there for me now.

Been playing MTG Forge, dunno if it counts as a "game" per say, it's more an mtg simulator but tabletop is included on this comm so okay. I won my first sealed game today, proud of myself because I kind of suck at deck building.
i've been modding warhammer 3 total war in hopes that i'll play it, but i've mostly been minipainting instead.
also some peak with friends, one day we may even reach the third biome
Peak was my favorite game that came out last year. Great with friends with good varied difficulty for all play types and also some really fun and challenging singleplayer runs. Just a phenomenally well-executed game
Galactic Racer is a ton of fun.
Having a lot of fun playing Wardogs. Mostly flying people & supplies in the helicopters.
I've been picking at the current community expedition in No Man's Sky when I have the time/energy for it, which is to say I've maybe put in two hours over the past week. I'm enjoying it, but what I really need is a runway to just go completely time-blind and get absorbed in it for 8-9 hours, and I haven't had anything close.
After this, it will be back to FFIV 3D, and once I finish that off... I'm not really sure! I think FF: Resonance is supposed to drop soon, so maybe I'll work that in instead. I also still need to finish Octopath Traveler 0 at some point, and I have a BG3 Heroic Mode 'cheevo run waiting to turn into a fatal blunder immediately after loading the save.
...this is starting to feel like an ADHD project logjam
After this, it will be back to FFIV 3D, and once I finish that off...
I keep telling myself that I'll get to After Years eventually lol
I played that ages ago on the Wii. I've been wondering if it's worth revisiting.
It had a weird episodic release on the Wii. I remember wanting to wait until the full thing was out, but then never buying/playing it lol.
Direct FF sequels always seem kinda iffy. FFX2 was pretty good, though.
That was exactly what I did, lol
I remember starting the first episode, realizing it was episodic, and then waited until the rest of them dropped. I still can't remember if I finished it, or if it was just that forgettable.
For whatever reason I'm back to playing Minecraft, there's so much new shit since I last played around 1.0
Best game to play in the fall. Starting uo my friends and family community vanilla community server as soon as the new world update drops later this month
Actually recently booted up minecraft and killed the ender dragon, probably for the first time since it was originally added!
I've never actually killed the dragon, I ran a server about a decade ago and some of the guys on there teamed up and beat it tho
Been working on finishing up the story missions of Far Cry 4. It wasn't working well with proton for me until recently. I was surprised how well the story represented the CIA being complete ghouls. Otherwise it's pretty liberal mostly. Almost got FC6 on super discount, but decided to hold off. Anyone have thoughts on it?
All I know is that it's set in definitely-not-Cuba and so I assume it is anti-communist drivel.
I've started the new Castlevania game, Belmont's Curse and I love it already, the artstyle is great, the characters are cool, Medusa if fucking pretty please marry me, the combat feels good, every weapon type feels very unique. My only complaint is that there are these doors you can enter to take you to a subarea of the area you are and later in the game, in the area after the Catacombs (not spoiling it) get very confusing, yesterday I was able to progress through a bunch of these doors and it felt like I was going all over the place on the map, made me super confused.
And quoting my comment from the trans mega: I'm also near the end of Symphony of the Night, I'm at 192% map completion right now, really enjoying the game, I can see why so many people love it, but I also think there's a lot of nostalgia for it, there's some stuff that is definitely bad on this game, like teleporting, the whole UI and HUD, inventory management, consumable use and the map could definitely be a lot better (both the layout and it could have more info) since some places rather suck to backtrack.
Im about to play Jurassic World Evolution 3 and build a park in the open sandbox mode.
I played the first game back in 2019, I think and enjoyed it quite a bit. The third game is better, bigger, wider, etc. It has flying and aquatic reptiles, as well as baby dinosaur breeding.
It's not the deepest park-building game out there.
In fact, it's on the simpler side compared to something like Planet Zoo. But it's very pretty and I find it quite relaxing.
I should look into 3. I enjoyed the first a good bit and they've probably iterated on it enough to be something I'd really like as it's been a while.
Might be a good wind down game (as funny as that sounds for the Jurassic Park IP)
Trying to get refocused on my gaming as I've spent most of the year hopping from game to game. At the moment I'm trying to finish my playthroughs of Red Dead Redemption at home and Shin Megami Tensei V while I'm on away from home only my Switch Lite.
I finished Bloodborne the other day and then started another playthrough 2 days later lol. Not New Game Plus though, I wanted to try a Strength (and maybe Arcane) build this time and do some low level co-op/invasions. I also played like an hour of Toy Story on the Mega Drive yesterday for no particular reason. Fun game but I kinda stink at it. Good music too!
I might try the new Castlevania as well, it doesn't quite look like my type of game but idk, I'm curious enough that I think I'll play it for like an hour or two just to get an impression.
Picked up Death Stranding 2. It's fun. Thanks Kojimbo
recently came back to X4 after a long time away
started up a pirate playthrough and been having a lot of fun with it so far

Valheim with friends, and Leap of Faith with myself 😅
Got to the third or fourth level of DmC Devil May Cry and uninstalled. It's a fucking miserable brown slog and the color-coded enemies were so boring. Worst game in the franchise, beating out DMC2 because at least DMC2 is only like 2 hours long.
Started Talos Principle 2 and I've been having fun. It's interesting, on the third world so far, but performance on linux is real rough. Can't even maintain a steady 30fps rough. I knew UE5 would be a resource hog for my 2060 but goddamn, this is only the second game that's actually borderline unplayable, and the first was Monster Hunter Wilds which had a lot more going on visually.
As always, more Warframe. Got my second Narin, still missing the dang Steflos common. Going to spend most of my time in-game doing the current event and buying syndicate relic packs because I am tired of Hepit. The new quest is meh, walk around an empty corridor as godzilla and then press 2 to win, wow how fun.
Played the Arc Raiders PvE trial, and unsurprisingly it's a lot more fun playing games without the stress of worrying about running into sweats and free kit campers, and losing your whole loadout as a result.
As a fringe benefit, the people who play solely because they enjoy griefing PvE'ers in the PvPvE mode are super mad about this, but apparently the numbers are looking really good for PvE.
toxic gamer community rant
If you want to truly understand how pathetic these
are, Arc Raider's "default" mode has PvP damage enabled, and players are matched based on a hidden "aggression" rating, e.g. if you shoot someone first, your next match will dump you into a PvP lobby. Whereas if you never start fights, you will end up in "carebear" lobbies; lobbies which are full of other players who don't shoot other players (or at least, they haven't in the last few rounds). Well, a certain subset of this playerbase will queue into lobbies with "free kits" (basically a starter kit that you don't have to worry about losing), play passively and/or die right away for several lobbies to reset their rating, until they get put into carebear lobbies where they then get cheap kills off of people who rightfully don't expect such aggression. And they'll just do this over and over, despite arguably being able to get better loot much faster if they just played straight PvE the entire time. And now these people are absolutely crying and shidding all over
about "PvE ruining the game" while the game's steam chart goes
(No doubt many people just returned for the new content, of which there is a lot, but IIRC the devs said 51% of players never start PvP engagements.)
Yeah arc raiders is kind of in a hard place. The most fun I had in the game is in the PVP fights with my friends in squad. Even though normally I'm someone who just enjoys doing PVE and looting. Optimally I don't want to PVP against people who are just looting, but its hard to tell and getting the jump on a PVPer is a huge advantage. Dunno what they can do about this, but adding PVE is almost certainly going to kill the PVP side because most people are just gonna want to go the safer route.
Finally got to Kingdom Hearts 3, I've been doing Hrothtober gpose challenge for FF14 and I got this amazing lofi productivity game called Spirit City: Lofi and its been very useful for me. I've been pretty impressed with it.
