It wasn't his corruption that sunk trump.

It wasn't the epstein files that explicitly states he raped children as young as 12.

It wasn't his bungling of ICE gestapo that got multiple Americans killed

It was gas and diesel prices. What a stupid fucking country.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"got Americans killed" sounds like they removed the airbags in their cars, or dared them to swim with gators.

It was murder.

[–] VinegarChunks@lemmus.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

It wasn’t the army of masked gunmen harassing brown-skinned people and executing Americans on the streets.

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 22 points 2 weeks ago

Has it sunk him? He is still in the whitehouse rather than a cell.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

It's literally always been this way in the US

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Saying it's just gas prices and diesel kinda undersells how bad this is in practice. All goods and produce are transported with diesel be it train, truck, or even canal boat it's probably diesel let alone the farming equipment that also uses it. This fuckwit basically caused the one thing that no empire wants to deal with, logistical failure.

[–] Sgt_choke_n_stroke@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

It almost as if, we should of diversified with other sources of transportation perhaps other ways of producing energy 🤔 what if we had a car that ran on electricity, or maybe a more robust train transportation system.

These are all just pie in the sky ideas. No country has ever attempted this. /s

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

And yet, all the other stuff that person mentioned is still way, way fucking worse than "price of goods go up"

It is highly embarrassing to me, as an American, that our government has been kidnapping and murdering foreign heads of state. The President is a known pedophile. ICE is breaking the law every thirty seconds and illegally murdering and kidnapping folks. But when you listen to people in the USA, they're primarily bitching about the cost of goods over any of that stuff. "Sure, the president is a known child rapist, but also there are logistical problems! It's not just high cost of gas!" like listen to yourself.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

I will not deny that but I will note that when push comes to shove it's basically the only issue that breaks through party lines. Progressives and a good number of liberals were and are talking about all the other shit, but a lot of independents either don't know or are so fucking checked out that they can't really care, there was some of that energy with the files for example but that is abstract as a day to day issue. The cost of fuel though affects everything and everyone, when push comes to shove peoples ideology becomes irrelevant to the hunger in their stomach or in this case the gaping hole in their finances.

While it may be frustrating it does make sense that gas prices are causing an uproar since basically everyone is bitching about it regardless of their politics or ideology.

I bought those same stickers and have been putting them on pumps too. So petty and stupid but I love it

[–] stickyprimer@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In most cases they are pretty dumb because White House policy is rarely what drives gas prices but in Trump’s case with the Iran misadventures it is an open and shut case.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Right and during Biden’s presidency the maga chuds were putting the Biden ones all over the place. So this is a nice “right back atcha, assholes”.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But TBF the gas prices during the start of Biden's term were the result of 1. Restarting the supply chain and 2. The direct result of the orange pedo threatening the Saudis into cutting back on oil production during COVID, directly impacting the cost to ramp it back up

So the 2021 gas prices were more impacted by the orange kid-diddler than the best president we've had since Obama

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Absolutely true; didn’t stop those troglodytes from blaming Biden though.

[–] OriginEnergySux@lemmy.world 39 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"And again, remember, with the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high [but] it's a small price to pay" - latest Trump quote i saw on rising petrol costs

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 22 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

"it's a little bit high but it's a small price to pay" is perfect for those Trump stuckers

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

Drop a link and I'm buying

Here in Ohio cheap unleaded is around 3.70, but only because the red governor ~~purely out of the kindness of his heart and to ease the burden of the constituents he cares so much about~~ recognized it's 1 month til the midterm elections and suspended the gas tax for 90 days. Before that the cheapest gas I could find was 4.15.

[–] Feidry@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

Central Illinois here. The average price finally got down to around 4.17/gallon. And this is a low price area. It's more expensive everywhere around us.

[–] felixwhynot@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Look into “eggshell stickers” when you restock. They flake off and are hard to remove

[–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

This is the correct answer

[–] Molvorin@feddit.dk 22 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

My calculations may be wrong but here in northern Europe we pay double that

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's no wonder everyone's getting new cars here.

Electricity is about a quarter of that for the same mileage.

Using the current prices and my own mileage, it would take 5 years to finance a new car only by the savings on fuel.

[–] Molvorin@feddit.dk 8 points 2 weeks ago

Same here

The money I would save on fuel would be the same that I'd have to pay to pay off a new small EV.

My only concern is that I'd have to buy a larger car than that, to be able to drive the distances that I some times do in my diesel car.

But I'm almost willing to have to charge more often, than spend money on a more expensive one

[–] JackFrostNCola@aussie.zone 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

You would be pretty much on the money.

Because the USA produces practically enough oil to be self reliant without oil coming through the straight, their prices havent actually increased as much as other countries who dont produce their own oil.
So not only did they drive up prices worldwide to fuck every other country over but americans have the gall to bitch about fuel prices which have increased a fraction of the impact its had on ours whilst being the sole reason for the fuckery.

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

Its cheaper now than ours was before all of this stuff. But I stopped directly using fossil fuels years ago so it hasn't effected me in any way.

Except for having to listen to other people moan about it, that has gone way up. Everyone I know with a car that complains about it could either cycle to work or get an EV, so I don't really care when they moan about fuel prices.

2.39 €/liter here. 4.54 liters in a gallon. 1.12 $/€.

12.15 $/gallon. Yes, it's double..

[–] OriginalUsername7@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

That’s an imperial gallon. US gallons are slightly smaller at 3.79 litres.

[–] thewebroach@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I've always heard that vehicles in europe are designed for better fuel economy, something about how emissions laws are worded.

In America it is common for small vehicles to get 30 miles per gallon (unleaded) , about $4 to $5 a gallon right now in the states.

Larger vehicles that take unleaded, like SUVs, trucks, vans, get maybe 15 to 20 mpg.

Large trucks and semi-trucks might be 8 to 15 mpg of diesel.

With respect of conversions of dollars, miles, and gallons, can anyone in Europe compare?

[–] TRock@feddit.dk 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Dane here. My old small car (Aygo) ran about 55mpg and right now gas is about $10.5 pr. Gallon

Diesel is over $8/gallon near me

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

You're getting on for European prices. UK here is about £2 per litre. After conversion from £ to USD and litres to US Gallon that's about $10 / us gallon

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

European prices in one of the most spread out and car centric countries on earth will hurt for sure

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Time for some math on those EVs

[–] Tja@programming.dev 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Those are for libtards and make you gay and woke.

[–] ContriteErudite@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

It's all those chemtrails that Obama put into the frogs! Once those frogs turned gay it was a guaranteed slippery slope straight to home-charging and human rights. Alex Jones tried to warn us. It's shameful, really.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago
[–] Molvorin@feddit.dk 2 points 2 weeks ago

Almost $12 pr gallon here, but that's in Europe too (I assume you are too?)

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

California?

[–] StabbingSky@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My FIL uses superglue when he puts up anti trump stickers.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

I like his style

[–] mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud 6 points 2 weeks ago

Here in the UK diesel is over £2 a litre, going to cost me well over £100.

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

You should look into eggshell stickers
