Vice President JD Vance thinks that Americans are too worried about the “little things” ahead of midterms—like gas prices, debt, Immigration and Customs Enforcement killings, and war.

“This is not the time to sort of gripe about all the little things.… I think every single person who voted for us in 2024 could find something where they wish maybe congressional Republicans had gone further,” Vance told Fox News on Thursday. “The challenge here is between Democrats who want to destroy the country, who want to permanently disempower you … and Republicans who fundamentally are trying to solve the problems that Democrats under Joe Biden created.”

Are the TRUMP-EPSTEIN FILES (TM) a little thing?

The challenge here is between Democrats who want to destroy the country, who want to permanently disempower you … and Republicans who fundamentally are trying to solve the problems that Democrats under Joe Biden created.”

As usual, every accusation is a confession.

It is astounding that Magats actually believe this bullshit.

[–] dudeface@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (3 children)

What actually happened to them to lose critical thinking skills

[–] OnyxRex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Our public education system.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 32 points 1 week ago

And the takeover of media and other ways to control how people think, creating the echo chambers to tell you what is real and what isn't. There are echo chambers everywhere, it's human nature to settle where you feel best and confirming of your world views. But the Fox News et al is a totally artificial and heavily walled version of this, for that purpose. "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

It really is that simple. As someone who's gone through the enshittified version of school, I can attest shit is bad. I'm even more astonished this isn't an every second talking point.

This is a long-term solution and a short term fix.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hatred and fear.

People always talk about the poor little dumb folks who got sucked in by propaganda. But that's not the important part. We are all vulnerable to enough brainwashing.

But it has to be the right brainwashing.

These people were all brainwashed with "you're the best because of your birth.", "Those people were born dirty and evil.", "I'm going to hurt all those other people in the worst way a person can imagine."

Magats aren't bad because they were propagandized. They are bad, and that was used to propagandize them.

[–] Cheebus@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

fear leads to anger anger leads to hate hate leads to maga

[–] hal_baleigh@piefed.social 10 points 1 week ago

Fox News initially, then social media delivered the one-two punch to fry their brains.

[–] TaterTot@piefed.social 20 points 1 week ago

Just need to know how to read between the lines.

The challenge here is... to destroy the country... to permanently disempower you... and Republicans... are trying.”

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Vance has reversed victim and offender.

[–] GreenBeard@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago

Standard abuser playbook.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

They're radicalized, isolated into echo chambers, and victims of an identity cult. They will believe any and everything until they get professional help.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago

Well, not all of us have a debilitating fetish for couches, so we focus on "little things" like paying for housing and feeding our families

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

We should be focused on the big things. I agree.

Like my powerful need to eat. (along with the rest of my family's).

Also my powerful need to be safe and health care.

And generally have a functional government that respects my most basic rights as a person.

Did I mention my powerful need to eat?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Sorry, that's part of "affordability" a made-up word by the Dumocrats (did you even know dumb has a b in it?) and also "JD" says it's part of the "little things".

So...if you are going into debt just to eat, don't worry, that's "little things" and "JD" "Vance" has some real galaxy-brain shit to talk to you about.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Little things: little paycheques, little future, little opportunity, little hope. Little things.

And food. Don’t forget food

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

Democrats who want to destroy the country.

Meanwhile said Democrats in New York: you can unsubscribe from services more easily. Hope this makes your life a little easier.

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Too late buddy, we're gonna fuck you up at the polls.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 week ago

like his penis.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

and Republicans who fundamentally are trying to solve the problems that Democrats under Joe Biden created.

Do dickheads like "JD" or any other accomplices name what any of these are and specifically which policies caused them?

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nope. ALL conservatives are pathological liars. 100% of them. There are no exceptions. A conservative will look you in the eye and lie to you about what they want for lunch.

[–] TwodogsFighting 5 points 1 week ago

Ah, you've met my sister.

[–] tea_n_typewriters@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Vice President JD Vance thinks…

I’ll stop there.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

"We need to focus on the big things...big billowy cushions, leather covered padded arms..."

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Republicans: "You're too focused on the little things."

Also republicans: "WHAT HAVE YOU GOT IN YOUR FUCKING UNDERWEAR?!?"

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 12 points 1 week ago

Republicans have never legitimately trying to solve any problems ever

[–] asmoranomar@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

The little things like: specific examples

The big things like: vague examples

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

As usual, still out of touch with average issues that affect mainstreet and the average joe. Does "It's the economy, stupid" ring a bell?

The little things: affordable health-insurance, being able to eat, having a job that pays enough, affordable housing instead of homelessness.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

like stupid ass culture war shit that’s divides us into two major groups..?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah, "men in women's sports" is the real galaxy-brained shit we should all be focused on. Not things like the price of, well, just about everything being so much higher.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

We are not focused on you short stuff.

[–] g0nz0li0@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago

Trump has been president for 6 of the last 10 years, it's wild to think that anyone buys this childish "but Biden!" shit.

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 6 points 1 week ago

“The challenge here is between Democrats who want to destroy the country, who want to permanently disempower you …

Hi, this is your regularly scheduled reminder that every Republican accusation is really a confession.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 week ago

Should focus on big things like the Iran war.

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

The files are not "little".

What he really means is "y'all are too focused on things that make us look bad", which is also everything.

[–] TwodogsFighting 4 points 1 week ago

The only way these cunts should be going further is off the end of the fucking pier.

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Gaslighting, noun gas·light·ing - psychological manipulation of a people over an extended period of time that causes them to question the validity of their own thoughts and perception of reality.

Example Sentence: JD Vance is openly gaslighting Americans when he claims people are too focused on the little things.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

… voted for us… wished congressional republicans had gone further… Biden.

Wow. Way to deflect EVERYTHING.

[–] bigbangdangler@reddthat.com 2 points 1 week ago

Little Things

Like the president's hands, or Vance's morals

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Remember when Biden and Kamala told US voters " no actually you don't understand. You're actually doing pretty well economically"?

Anyways. vibe.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, good to hear the same death rattles coming out of the current admin

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

bingo.

if you have to tell people to not believe the things they observe, think, and feel, immediately prior to an election... well.. lets just say that if thats the case, things have not gone as planned.

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I would never accuse this administration of having plans to help people

[–] OnyxRex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The metrics for measuring our economic health haven't been tied to the well being of the total population for a long time. The entire political system has been hiding behind wall-street growth for generations. Inflating that even with money magic. The moment we stepped off the gold standard we started playing a game of math and fantasy.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

At the risk of sounding like a D&D player, fantasy and math are fine, the problem is that some classes are totally overpowered
