Dark and desaturated orange! Orange is more like #FF8000, so a wide gap between red green and blue, while "brown" is not only lower in values but they also need to be closer together, like #A07040 which looks "light brown" (saturation= wider gap, the least saturated colors are greys that all have the same values like #AFAFAF). If you try #A05000, which is darker (lower values overall) but saturated (wide gap), you truly have dark orange that doesn't feel "brown" yet.

Orange was too goated of a color so they tried to nerf it by splitting it into two.

Orange is just light brown. Hey, pass me a slice of that Clementine light brown. Yum!

Uh aktually, brown is just +a* and +b* where b* > a* with a low L* value under the CIELAB color space.
