Hello everyone. Its time for another Gaming Sunday. This week I finished the base game of Elden Ring for the seamless co op playthrough I was doing with my brother. We then dipped our toes into the DLC. Also, I have gotten into 3DS emulation have started a playthrough of the Gen 3 pokemon remakes. I remember those coming out when I was in high school, and I deeply contemplated buying a 3DS to play them, but for some reason I never ended up pulling the trigger. Anyway, I have beaten the first gym. Hope you all have a great week ahead!

Doing another Metroid Dread playthrough (number... 9? Never really counted) because I moved a week ago and my PC isn't set up yet

I’m playing Cyberpunk and I’m oscillating between this game is not as good as the hype says it is, and yay a decent rpg.

I'm gunna' start Armored Core tomorrow, maybe. I should finish up some games, but maybe I'll just drop them for now and start fresh with AC1 on PS1.

I just finished Big Walk. It was so good, I feel a kind of emptiness now that there's no more left to do. thurston If you have people who can play online, the game is so much fun as a group.

Been trying out Tears of Metal with a friend, I like it for how it has historically accurate depictions of the English as horrific demonic monstrosities, fun co-op gameplay and overall just a nice roguelite package.

I've gotten sucked into a handful of PS2 games for nostalgia because I learned about Retro Achievements. Just logged into my account on PCSX2 and started up some Guitar Hero and Dynasty Warriors 3. It's a neat way to encourage playing older games like this because I get dopamine hits whenever I get an achievement and it tells me my placement on leaderboards. Some people on the site are too hardcore for me though, I'm not grinding 9999 kills on a DW3 level to get top leaderboard position for kills in that level.

Enjoy the Elden Ring DLC comrade, I absolutely loved playing it as difficult and as big as it was.

I haven't been playing much this week, my head has been kinda of scrambly after coming out here in the funny hexagonal bear site and more recently to a friend (it went very well, yay!!). But I have played a bit of Isaac with a friend on his second save, I played a bit of Hades and did a little bit of training with Marisa on SF6, I trained a pretty cool 7k dmg combo off of a Punish Counter on the corner with lvl 3 and full drive, but haven't played since then and that was in the middle of the week.

Signed up for the Duskbloods network test. It’s, definitely its own thing. There were a lot of concerns that the PvE aspect was going to be a sideshow, but it’s more like a ton of From Soft PvE with the PvP looming in the background. Triumphing at the end is obviously the goal, but it rewards you more so for efficiently doing the PvE section than your PvP skills. I’ve never played a soulslike game before and I definitely felt like that was a detriment, so I hope the launch version has training modes where we can learn the fights against the tougher mobs in a low stakes environment.

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 2 points 11 hours ago

Cool, I saw Vaati's video on it and it looked really fun to me.

I hope the launch version has training modes where we can learn the fights against the tougher mobs in a low stakes environment

From never did this before I don't think, unless there's something like that in Nightreign because I haven't played that, so I wouldn't keep my hopes up for that.

If you're interested in it after playing the network test, soulsborne games are great. If you want the one which is gonna have the closest feel to Duskbloods, Elden Ring is what you want. Or if the aesthetic of Duskbloods is more of your style, there's Bloodborne, you can even emulate it pretty well right now. But you could probably start in any From game and it would be good to be honest.

Cyberpunk 2077. Was trying to sort out my broken mods, and I managed to fix the issue. Then I got hit with a broken archive error and the game is unplayable now.

If anyone with an unmodded copy of the game could please upload a copy of basegame_4_appearance.archive and link it I would highly appreciate it, as it should fix the game.

[–] muhg@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

For the record, it's in the main game directory, in /archive/pc/content.

[–] Inui@hexbear.net 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I've never used this site but it didn't give me a tiny upload limit like 200mb, so here it is. https://storage.to/ECyLDna0k

I started playing recently with a huge 280 mod list from Nexus, but Amethyst Mod Manager keeps the mod files separate from the game files.

[–] muhg@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

That was incredibly fast. Thanks. o7

I'm playing Arkham Horror LCG solo on Tabletop Simulator. I'm using a net deck built for playing solo for now until I get to know the cards better and can build my own deck. Running the Night of the Zealot campaign first to get to know the game. It's pretty fun so far.

I managed to finish my first North Korean run in Super Metroid! catgirl-happy

quick explanationIn Super Metroid there are 4 main bosses you have to defeat to access the final boss and beat the game: Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon and Ridley.

Speedrunning routes through the game are commonly abbreviated by the initials of the order of bosses you kill, so DPRK (or North Korea%) is one possible route... though it is entirely a meme route because it means doing the underwater area without the item you REALLY want for it catgirl-hiss

Maybe we need a category in which you only kill Phantoon, Ridley and Crocomire next catgirl-smug xigma-male

[–] muhg@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Is it possible to do any boss order now? I've heard of reverse order but never a DPRK run.

[–] Mutalisk@hexbear.net 5 points 14 hours ago

If you're enough of a masochist then any boss order is possible, yup! doggirl-sweat

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 13 points 18 hours ago

Finally got my fight stick buttons from aliexpress. This is my prototype just to test it out but I'm going to my buddy's place to use his drill press for a more permanent solution.

Oh yeah it's skullgirls time

been playing Baldur's Gate 2. last time i played it i was 13 years old and i definitely didnt pick up all the nuances of the dialogue nor the gameplay. it's been a lot of fun, they really dont make em like they used to. the Pathfinder games get pretty close, but i love the rugged dirtyness of the 2d more than the "plastic" feeling 3d.

[–] Moomoo_Milk@hexbear.net 9 points 17 hours ago

Been playing Metaphor: ReFantazio inbetween illness and recovering from surgery. Only got 10 hours in, but I really like the style of the game. Definitely an A+ effort from Atlus. The game's first dungeon is absurdly long though. I wasn't even remotely prepared with proper consumables when I walked in. I am definitely enjoying it. Great game with a compelling story thus far.

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 11 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

finally got an FTL win on normal difficulty, i can't image how difficult hard difficulty is

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 6 points 16 hours ago

the only win i had is still with the stealth ship, the max evasion plus a bunch of lasers and flak won me that run

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 5 points 16 hours ago

Really depends on the ship. The Zolton Cruiser can be a breeze with early shield upgrades. Sometimes you just get a bunch of dual lasers and laser chargers and vaporize enemy ships with minimal power, allowing you to invest in other systems.

Then there's ships I haven't even beat normal with. Been a while since I played FTL.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 7 points 16 hours ago

Got to 2500~2600 rating in Once Upon a Galaxy only to scrub out day 1 and not even make day 2 in the tournament Q_Q

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 5 points 15 hours ago

Playing the excellent Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition. Got bored with Ragnarok Online. Thinking I might give TRX the fan Tomb Raider 1-3 collection a whirl since there's been a lot of updates to it.

[–] Speaker@hexbear.net 9 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (2 children)

I started consuming some Elden Ring lore and then almost bought it, but wanted to think it over more since I usually bounce off Souls games. Convinced myself that I could be into it, then heard they're putting out a version with the DLC and so on in a couple weeks so I'm still not getting it until then in case either the price of the new thing beats the current price+DLC or if they put the previous configuration on big sale or something. 🤷

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 4 points 17 hours ago

to me is was the most "accessible" from soft game

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 4 points 17 hours ago

The little DLC add-on is going to be $5 I heard so IDK if that's going to factor much into things.

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 19 hours ago

been feeling the pull of the Atelier series so i've been playing Resleriana which is one i've not played before, i'm not very far into it but it's been pretty fun so far

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 8 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

You know "Design is Law"? In Final Fantasy Tactics, CT is Law. What is CT? Clock Ticks which decide the turn order. Equivalent of Tactics Ogre's Wait Turn system.

The easiest way to victory is to have infinite range (so Sword abilities with Agrias or Orlandu, holy shit Orlandu lol) with stuff like max-Jump Lancers, and then attack whatever unit moved last. You get screwed over enough with timed spell casts and shit, you learn to just attack the unit that'll take the longest to move next. Seems simple and it is, happens to reduce the game to a baby-easy snooze fest and render most spellcasters totally useless.

[–] take_five_moments@hexbear.net 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

holy shit Orlandu

lol agrias who? cid is my new best friend

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 3 points 14 hours ago

Still not strong enough to one-tap zombie Balk and dies the turn after yea hey fuck this game y'know

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 3 points 15 hours ago

Beat the base game of Nioh 2, decided to switch from fists to splitstaff and go all-in on magic with the switchglaive as backup. Seems pretty good, now that I have the mystic art I just cast like 5 buffs and obliterate enemies. Beat NG+ Gozuki (I know, but still) hitless with a wombo combo. Currently trying to progress on NG+ to unlock NG++ and level enough to do the DLC missions.

Did a few runs in Risk of Rain 2. Was going for the Drifter challenge to open the sack on the new DLC level with the big eye, but it fucking fell on me when it died and instagibbed me. As far as melee classes go, it seems like one of the worst, especially when it comes to aerial enemies (seriously, all the new bosses in the DLC are flying and you can't hit them?), but The Cube^tm^ is very funny.

Some more Message from Deep Space, I'm I think about 2/3 through. It's good! There are some times where I've finished a week without really nailing down definitions of words beyond vibes, and then get to the weekly meeting and NPCs start going on about how the aliens must be able to VARA VARB VARC and isn't that amazing, which is very funny to me.

As always, more Warframe.

[–] batsforpeace@hexbear.net 6 points 18 hours ago

I checked back on ESO to try the new overland difficulty settings and got majorly sucked into putting together a new build that can survive the base game bosses on master mode ( level 3 out of 4 ), you have to pay attention to enemy mechanics again, bosses can easily one-shot you with some moves, though the moves are usually telegraphed in advance, I also switched to a full melee setup to try a different playstyle because I always played ranged before, feels like I had to re-learn the game’s combat mechanics somewhat, I’m using an npc companion tank too, I think I might resume the dlc story quests now that the build is almost done, still have something like 30-40% of the story left in this game

[–] makotech222@hexbear.net 9 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

doing more hoi4 kaiserredux and TFR runs, cause nothing else is interesting right now :P

Mortal shell 2 is meh, i'm really tired of souls games as of late, so its not really hitting. also, UE5 game suckiness

Gone back to Enter The Gungeon after trying Darkest Dungeon 2.

I have not killed the past.

spoilerI haven't had a run where getting over the gap with the invisible path was viable. I never have goop weapons and the one time I had a way to fly I forgor.

Darkest dungeon 2 comments that is silly and petty: All the Hellion paths miss the point of the Hellion's backstory and that annoys me. How do you miss the point of the backstory you wrote. She posturing. AAAAaaaaaAAAAA.

im playing fire emblem awakening, im still at the Valm invasion at the final mission vs the conquerer dude Walhart, like 2 chapters before i used my main team in a story map and was destroyed many times, i think what i was lacking was levels and better units in general because the enemies now have silver weapons.

The only units i had that were really strong were robin that can double nosferatu, cordelia, stahl and tiki, so i finally went to the paralouge child recruits, and there are real good, lucina was really weak for a while because i reclass her as a paladin but now she is really strong, same with her sister cynthia, then nah was a great knight and had like 33 strenght (biggest in my army) and now she is a dragon again but with luna, im going to train severa into an assasin so i finally have an archer unit, also i finally recruited tiki who im trying to get to lvl 15 dark night before she goes back to a dragon unit

[–] Moomoo_Milk@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Nah as a great knight is just super comical in my brain. IIRC she's the tiniest character in that game and I just imagine her struggling with the layers of armor and warhorse all at the same time.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago

yea she looked a little silly, and honestly also super strong she had 33 strenght and 25 defence but i already have quite a few cav units and manatekes are really strong
