I think that's only if it gets hot enough and unfortunately while it's hot enough all my clothes are sticking to me it's not hot enough to be dangerous
Idk sounds like it could apply to this situation :
https://www.osha.gov/heat-exposure/standards
Under the General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are required to provide their employees with a place of employment that 'is free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious harm to employees.' The courts have interpreted OSHA's general duty clause to mean that an employer has a legal obligation to provide a workplace free of conditions or activities that either the employer or industry recognizes as hazardous and that cause, or are likely to cause, death or serious physical harm to employees when there is a feasible method to abate the hazard. This includes heat-related hazards that are likely to cause death or serious bodily harm.
Might be worth trying to file a complaint:
unfortunately or fortunately i guess it's not quite hot enough that I think I could characterize it as a threat to my health
I am just drippin sweat down my balls and crack with my tshirt clinging to me from sweat all day, despite wearing just a tshirt. It's probably 80-85F in the specific area I am working in, with maybe 60-80% humidity, when it's getting towards the afternoon, so it just sucks. "go into the cooler" okay so I go into the fridge and now I have a clinging layer of fucking freezing. And that's waaaaay warmer than the 0F freezer, which I am absolutely not ever going into while covered in fucking sweat unless I take the time to go to my locker and grab a coat
and despite the dining director's best efforts to deflect and dissemble with his brilliant argument of "well it's hot in front of the grill," it kind of matters to me that it's the result of equipment breaking down and since it's a temporary burden due to that I think the reasonable and appropriate response is to make temporary accommodations as a result. but no they want me to just swelter and be fucking miserable (until it's fixed, which is a literal ??? question mark)
edit: especially when the temporary accommodations I want are literally just going back to the fucking status quo that's been present for nearly 4 years now
the guy said some shit about how we've "always" had this "uniform" (chef's coats in the back, instead of what they've actually always said, which was EITHER chef's coat OR shirt and apron) when in reality, because nobody was wearing one when I started and I only got one after asking for one, that has not ever actually been the case. the reality is probably this dumb fucking ignorant shithead spent $500-600+ on coats for people and now has to justify the expense by making people wear them and because he's a petty tyrant with the apparent thinking ability you'd expect from 11, maybe 12 braincells he can't compromise with a temporary agreement to not wear them
The new extra ones this dipshit bought aren't even embroidered with my name like my initial ones were
That's wild man. Sorry you have to put up with this shit.
Just my 2 cents but the conditions you're describing sound like they could qualify as a threat to health. 🤷 Maybe I'm soft or maybe you're just young and in good shape. I'm imagining someone in their 40s or 50s working in the conditions you describe and I'd expect them to faint or get heat stroke. Doesn't seem like they can set that standard based on the specific worker idk.
I got shit for not wearing black socks in my kicken job when i was younger. The feeling of anger at the arbitrary nature of it all is really powerful
my working theory is most of these people have a sort of sgt. major sixta approach of generation kill fame by which I mean they're child molesters
Most of these people are functionally incompetent and the only thing they can reliably do is be racist and notice visual patterns they don't like.
Your boss is a jerk. I dont even wear an apron at work cause it's uncomfortable.
