Oh if that’s what’s being served at $25 I’d wonder if I’m trapped on the Abraham Lincoln and just dissociating/imagining my daily life.

[–] Illegalmexicant@lemmy.world 110 points 1 day ago (4 children)

What is this? A meal on an Aircraft Carrier?

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 56 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Couldn't be, there's protein on the plate

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Affording beef, in this economy? Fancy.

[–] THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago (3 children)

"We do things a little different around here."

And then proceeds to do everything by the vanilla play book. Moreso for manbun burger places, but still works here.

"We do things a little different around here."

Then proceeds to explain Tapas.

[–] anugeshtu@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Or all you can eat with a tablet

[–] Trampampoline@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 day ago

Differently? Alright, what's on tap?

"we serve coke products here, sir"

They charge differently maybe

The new BBQ place in my town

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'd love to see their "smoker". Zero smoke rings on anything in this picture and that pulled pork looks like crock pot pulled pork.

That brisket is a crime against humanity.

You know how sometimes you can watch a food ad and taste the food they're selling? This is like that, but I can taste the bag they reheated it in.

My local BBQ place will do a full 3-meat (and sides) catering spread for 20 people for $350. If you’re paying $300 for 6 people, you’re getting ripped off.

This is what Mission BBQ is like, but add in the guilt trip to buy a $3 plastic drink cup "for the troops". And the barbecue is not good. It's not inedible or anything, it's just that everything (including the sides) is loaded with sugar.

[–] Zebrafive@lemmy.myserv.one 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I had Mission BBQ onboard the US Ship Truman and did not pay anything so if you bought a cup thanks for your service. Like and unlike the Lincoln the total deployment time was 7 months with 2 port visits and in the gulf Arabian Sea the supply chain isnt always the most efficient.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn't buy a cup FWIW. I assumed you guys were paid from the US military budget and hence from my taxes, not from Mission BBQ plastic cups.

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Do the same for tips.

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 26 points 1 day ago (5 children)

It's been ages since I've set foot in a bbq restaurant because of this.

*equips cane, glasses, and supplemental O2 tank*

Back in my day, an entree in c these places wouldn't break the bank, and would send you home with leftovers every time.

YUM

Nice sly reference to the company owning several well-known restaurant chains.

Yum! Brands, Inc. (sometimes called just Yum!) is an American multinational fast food corporation. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the company operates KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Habit Burger & Grill, and several technology companies. Yum! is one of the world's largest fast food restaurant companies in terms of system units. In 2016, Yum! had 43,617 restaurants, including 2,859 that were company-owned and 40,758 that were franchised, in 135 nations and territories worldwide.

Ah yes the three item meal plus one other thing.

[–] MyDogLovesMe@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (17 children)

24 dollars? What? Does that come with a hand-job?

Yes, but it's not applied to your equipment, but rather your wallet.

Rudy's menu near me. 2.50 more for "moist".

[–] sharkaccident@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

Rudy's is good in a pinch but way better options across TX.

If you're splurging and it's not moist, you need to hydrate more

I feel bad for people that don't have access to good Barbecue.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (3 children)

As someone who lives in 1 of those areas and visited Texas once 3 years ago I agree... I never had bbq ever like that before. Thats all we did for 3 days straight, bbq, brewery, bbq, brewery, concert festival at night. Best trip I had in a long time.
