Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I once saw a dude walking around with a sandwich board that said "sex before marriage = hell after death". My friend walked up to him and asked if it was ok if only one of us was married 😂

Neat, even a place to get a boybortion after getting boypreggers.

I’m glad to see that weed smoking is in a patio and not indoors. Pot smokers never seem to realize how much that stuff stinks up a room.

[–] Melissa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 days ago

We know…

We just don’t care.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 5 points 4 days ago

Just like regular smokers!

[–] Schorsch@feddit.org 6 points 4 days ago

I vape. It only smells for a short moment and not very much.

...what did we talk about again?

When I lived with people who smoked weed, it was really less of an issue with the smell and more that their rooms and our shared living spaces collected a layer of grimy residue on any surfaces that was difficult to remove. I do actually hate the smell of weed, but hated trying to clean that stuff up more lol

Bold of them to assume the gayness would be confined to one room.

Estrogen Lab? That's ridiculous!

It's a hormone lab. We can't leave our brothers behind!

Um, if I have a boy wife, I don't need the abortion room 🙄

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 4 days ago

it doubles as a boybortion room

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 4 days ago

He's trans, obviously. Didn't you see the bathroom?

[–] Kenny2999@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It doubles as a walk-in closet, just need to rinse the wire hangers.

[–] anise@awful.systems 2 points 3 days ago

I would assume we'd have misoprostol available like a civilised society

I hate it, take your upvote.

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 7 points 4 days ago

This is preposterous! I want my abortions performed in a safe medical facility, and that space between the gay room and the (boy)wife kitchen is perfect for a ubi dispenser.

[–] don_kiedyck@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

I’m straight, but I really want to see the decor of the gay room. I bet it’s fabulous.

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

this has been made by a leftist I assume.

[–] gray@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago

It's too desirable to have been cooked up in a reactionary mind

[–] cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 days ago (4 children)

i dunno there's a very good plausible chance it was made unironically by a bigot cause they're that stupid.

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 days ago

I feel like "(boy) wife kitchen" especially reads as someone from within the community. if it were a bigot, I'd assume they'd have named it "(man)wife kitchen" or something.

cuz boywife is like an actual term peeps use I think.

Nobody makes leftism look more rad than reactionary bigots making hyperbolic posts about "what the left wants"

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Conservatives don't know what a boywife is.

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nah they do. never forget that they're as gay as the rest of us, they just repress it way more. As a femboy, it is honestly incredible how many "straight" conservative christians try to hit on me.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 2 points 3 days ago

They know the BAREST basics and that they'd really like to fuck femboys. However, I do have reason to believe that most wouldn't know about terms that are even slightly more niche than femboy. Unless of course, they're groypers or members of very similar groups.

[–] Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip 5 points 4 days ago

Catch me in the boywife kitchen making food for people in the sex before marriage lounge 😌

gay room is just my bedroom

[–] medicsofanarchy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

No all-you-can-eat edibles bar?

[–] imvii@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

This is stupid.

On really nice days I'm doing abortions on the patio.

Omg can we please‽ This is absolutely the dream 😍

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

don't want to display the top part? crop? nah that's too clean
