I'm happy for you!

Please read up on HRT so that you have an understanding of what you should be prescribed and how much. It's good to be informed. Also, if you ever feel like the wait time for HRT is too long then know that we've got you.

just don't buy any official harry potter stuff like books or movies or merch. she uses the money to directly fund anti trans lobbying

There is widespread malpractice against us in other forms for sure, like too high blocker dosages, too low E doses (just general incompetence), gatekeeping HRT in the first place, different kinds of conversion practices like purposefully long wait times for diagnosis, etc.

But yeah, this in particular is not malpractice but lack of research. This isn't standard and there's no research to suggest this would be safe and effective and so I doubt any doctor could prescribe a cyclical regime. That's not to say it isn't true that it is safe and effective, but they can't know and so therefore it's just not in line with how they operate.

I do wish there was more research on effective medical transition, but we're a small market in a patriarchal and capitalist world

That only works if you are also blocking testosterone in some way as the lows won't be enough for the E to suppress T on its own

I've suspected the same for a while. Whenever I've had a dip due to changing the form of HRT I would notice a lil growth spurt, but I suspect I'm too far into using HRT now for it to matter much for me. I would love to simulate a cycle but it's simply not feasible as I'm currently using patches.

Before I was on DIY injections and then a cycle wasn't very feasible either as I needed a high dose to suppress T. I could've had highs and lows by going very high I suppose

There are garments that holds everything properly if it's of proper shape and size for you, and there's underwear and bikinis designed specifically for trans people / femboys / drag queens etc.

Some might need tucking, some will hold stuff even without. Latex underwear that is a size smaller can help hold things in place, and you can wear it underneath other underwear or garments.

I personally use boyshorts but I have panties as well, and I have a swimming dress that I really like. They're all really designed for cis people but they fit me just fine. My cheaper medium sized boyshorts however do usually lose their shape after I wear it for a bit and it stops holding things well. My shapewear that compresses my waist and is like a pantie in the crotch fits really well.

There's a sort of societal pressure to present as your gender when you're trans simply because it's safer and the alternative is often being misgendered and marginalized. it's also really scary to change presentation early on so early in the transition is when you'll see many sort of "overcorrect" and go overly femme or masc, but many are perfectly happy to be gender non-conforming, and many try less hard as they get more comfortable with themselves.

There's also the growing trend of femboys or guys that present more feminine, and I see guys painting their nails more than before these days.

I think a celebrity making a gesture or doing something symbolically is really cool, but at the end of the day the real signs of a cultural shift is what regular people are doing casually, and to me it feels like there's something shifting, even if it's slow going and there's pushback.

PS the trans dress thing sounds sort of accidentally transphobic, but looking at your profile I don't think that was intentional and is just an issue of phrasing.

We've seen a lot of spam come from lemmy.org and we have therefore defederated from their instance. For the moment they have open registrations which only require filling out a simple captcha to create an account which many people abuse.

The admin is active but rarely takes moderation actions, but I've sent a DM to them with our concerns. We'll see how permanent this is.

We’ve been seeing frequent spam waves of targeted harassment from accounts made on programming.dev over the course of several weeks, which has among other unacceptable things contained transphobia, obscene pictures of animals, calling for the victim to commit suicide, and other hateful rhetoric.

For these reasons we are defederating from programming.dev. We may refederate in the future if we have reason to believe there will be no further problems like these from their instance.

Edit: I've spoken with the admins there and I may refederate once I have more details on their application system. To be clear they don't support anything posted by these accounts and are deleting them as they are detected.

Edit: We've refedereted.
