I don’t live in Maine anymore, but his handling of this, and clear stance on other issues important to me, have actually strengthened my willingness to vote for him was I still in the state.

I actually believe him when he says he got it while drunk on a night off with the marines, supposedly not knowing the meaning at the time. He then went on to say he immediately scheduled to cover it because getting it removed would have taken too much time to figure out because Maine doesn’t have any places that do it. Like he wanted that shit no longer visible on his body asap and went out of his way to get it done sooner than later.

Similarly with LGBTQ+ rights. Yeah he said some edgy shit on the Internet a long time ago, but he’s said he’s changed and now aggressively supports queer rights in Maine. Idk, maybe he’ll pull a Fetterman, but I don’t get that vibe.

Even if he is still in the process of fully deconstructing things, he is clearly taking the correct actions in the here and now to further that process.

I grew up with people like him and almost without fail, when I actually sat down and had real conversations with them as adults, they’ve been positive and minds have been changed in all directions.

Blue collar Mainers are some of the first people to hate billionaires, and fiercely support small government, personal freedoms and privacy. This honestly means supporting queer rights in so far as they want the freedom to be themselves too. They have been systematically lied to by a party that doesn’t actually want small government or personal liberties, and many of them have realized that.

We need to be able to welcome these people willing to be educated, and genuinely capable of changing their thinking and their ways. These people are closeted radical leftists. We will need them on board.

He seems to walk the walk as well as talk the talk.

See the other comment about what Sunshine and Moonlight are, but I wanted to toss in I use that, as well as a stand alone instance of Steam on my living room PC. My living room PC is noticeably weaker than my main PC, so for some games I stream them via Sunshine/Moonlight, but for a lot of indie titles I just run them right in the living room PC.

I ended up with a device that shipped with it and replace it with Yunohost for a similarly beginner friendly experience that, so far, seems a whole lot more open.

bugmenot usually has a few working audiobookbay logins if you don’t want to deal with setting up an account

[–] Arkhive@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 months ago

With my library card I got for free! With Libby and some web inspector magic you can rip them for offline listening too.

If I really can’t find what I want I keep a myanonymouse account handy, and there’s the audiobookbay if I’m very desperate.

Ooohhhh. I’m interested. I’m on NixOS too, but my preferred Osu! version is McOsu for the first person like camera controls, but it’s a steam game, so I don’t think there’s a way to install it through my config.

As someone who changed their name, I’d also vouch for something more abstract in its symbolism of your connection to your kid. I struggled changing my name, let alone telling my parents, because of the value and attachment I knew my mom, honestly kind of arbitrarily, placed on that.

Yup, using openVPN profiles. Proton VPN has quite clear instruction on how to do this on their website. Just do a search for “proton vpn openVPN profile Linux”

Red Strings Club!!! Woah!! Been a minute since I thought about that game. Very, VERY, good. Sort of a precursor to Potion Craft in a way, that really didn’t over stay its welcome. The pacing was great, difficulty curve was great, and it had a distinctly finite story that still left you satisfied. I’ve bounced off potion craft a few times because at a point the scale, and subsequent grind, is a bit much for me. Red Strings Club nails the middle ground with good increasing complexity without becoming a chore.

That was my guess. Just wanted someone that knows more than I do to confirm.

Kind of an odd question, and something I think is a long shot, but here goes.

I’ve long known and used GitHub pages for the odd static site, and generally like the service, Microsoft ownership aside, for the purpose of free hosting for temporary sites.

I was just trying to figure out how to host an instance of something for a popup event and wanted to be able to have a url that was mostly readable/recognizable. So my mind jumped to GitHub pages. I know it possible to connect GH pages to a custom domain, I used to host my personal website like this, but is the reverse possible? Can I expose my self hosted services on

user.github.io

in some way?

MacOS Preview equivalent (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Title mostly says it all. Preview is unironically an incredible piece of software. Between feature set and ease of use, I have yet to come across any FOSS that is comparable. Anyone know of a Linux alternative?

EDIT: Due to popular demand I should explain Preview more. It’s a “fully fledged” PDF editor, but somehow it’s completely different from something like Adobe Acrobat. The way most users will interact with it is as a seemingly very plain image viewer, but if you open a PDF you can add fillable boxes, rearrange pages, split and merge PDFs, etc. I cannot place exactly why it’s workflows feel so much better than something like Acrobat.

Philly Street Medic Support

Hello,

First a note/disclaimer. To begin with I’m going to be careful to avoid doxing myself, so there is information I will be omitting to that end. If you would like me to confirm any information here further, please dm me and we can discuss. Additionally, any specific persons associated with the information I’m about to share have explicitly allowed me to make this post on their behalf. Again, I am willing to prove or discuss this in dms.

Now for the main post.

This is somewhat short notice in the lead up to the protests this Saturday, June 14th, but The Philly street medics are looking to raise funds for supplies for both Saturday’s event, and future events. Based on estimate from local and national organizers the local medic team will have their work cut out for them. Any support folks can provide would be a huge help. We have attempted to post this on other sites, but we (somewhat understandably) get hit by automod filters.

I am providing the link to the medic orgs website, as well as the direct donation link.

Again, I will do my best to answer any questions, and I do have additional info to provide privately for additional verification.

Basically the title. I would like apps that auto detect system theme to see it as dark mode. I’ve come across post after post of doing this with home manager, but I’d like to just do it in my base nix config. I tried a few different ways to declare what I thought was being done in the home manager tutorials in my config, but none of it worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
