Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
It's just enrichment! They couldn't manage in the wild theyve been in captivity too long
I was about halfway through this before I realized they were talking about anarchists and not arachnids

I put a mirror in the pen of my libertarian cuz I saw online they'll do funny stuff in front of it but now they're just yelling at it saying stuff like "you're not a REAL libertarian" and "that's not what the non-agression principle is" and I don't know how to make them stop :[
There’s a big difference between American and European species of Libertarian.
Whilst I could never breed American Libertarians I’d struggle to put one down - it’s just a geographic defect after all.
i like how these comments are 1/3 normal comments, 1/3 people who have no idea what anarchy is, and 1/3 people who really care about how it works
more people need to focus the petplay angle here
Was literally sent this by one of my anarchist pets
Even anarchists can desire a guiding hand. Even better when said hand gives headpats!
The thing that makes anarchism work is people wanting to participate in it. As a guy who likes anarchism I just want to care more about strength of character than money or power.
So do libertarians, they just don’t have enough trust to see it in others without some sort of unimpeachable token system to recognize as “proof” of their character.
This has nothing to say about anarchism itself. It just assumes that coercive authority would be required for industrial medicine production and large scale agriculture. Anarchism does not mean a lack of organization, just a lack of coercion and unjust hierarchy.
i mean, i have seen many naive anarchists who think "everyone has a garden" and "hi, my favourite hobby is making paracetamol in my garage!" are substitutes for organized agriculture and medical manufacturing…
The vast majority of capitalists believe in the possibility of an ever expanding market on a planet with finite resources.
There have been communist who believed you should plant seeds really close together because they would have plant class solidarity and not compete with each other.
There are anarchists who think chaos is a legitimate form of government.
There are fascist.
It's almost like naive and insane people exist within all political ideologies to different degrees.
Yeah, I think it's a fallacy to treat hobbies as work, and work as a hobby.
Whether we love it or hate it, work has to be done. It doesn't have to, or should be dreadful, but ultimately it is fundamentally different to a hobby. Completely different mindset too, everyone that has turned they hobby into their main source of income will tell you it just becomes "a job".
Work needs deadlines, planning, discipline, efficiency, communication, accounting, expectations and competition. Hobbies are relaxing and enjoyable precisely because it isn't these.
You can still love your job, but I wanted to convey that despite what many may wish, most people cannot handle, or enjoy, their hobby becoming their job
Industry in an anarchist society will need to heavily rely on organization, professionals, and education preparing the next generation of those professions. It's naive to think that members of a community garden could run a 500 acre farm, or similar.
I don't deny that there's plenty of naive anarchists around. But it's a false conclusion that anarchism itself would be naive because of that.
Absolutely, but it's still pretty funny.
Not gonna lie, this feels disingenuous.
It's just political bait disguised as a "meme".
It doesn't even contain any good discourse about anarchism, just tired tropes of infantilisation.
Eh, why even post this?
yeah this post is like, really fucking mean and i think OP maybe isn't able to see past the pet-play aspect?
Like i'm fine with pet-play, but the rest of the meme is kinda.. abusive? It's like continuing to treat someone like a baby in public.
If you find yourself getting real worked up about tankies or anarchists, then respectfully, go touch some fucking grass. There's real comrades (of a variety of tendencies) out there, fighting against actual (and ascendent) fascism. Your ideological grudges are so fuckin stupid and irrelevant at this point in history. Seriously. Not. Worth. A. Fucking. Mention. Work together when you can, wish them luck when you can't.
I used to say this stuff about needing to come together and all. Then I worked with people who called themselves "comrades" until it became obvious I'd been used by awful people who wanted power and who saw hurting others as an unfortunate necessity or even a perk of the job. Then I started paying attention.
It's not a matter of historical grudges, it's a question of who we're propping into power. Arguably less important than avoiding fascism but still very much worth some discusssion.
🐹
I don't want garden sized what fields I want huge community ones tended by machines made out of ganked parts running open source MCU firmware.
i want that one image of a highway turned into a linear farm, with a machine on rails that automatically plants and harvests stuff.
