unless you’re doing videos purely as a hobby, moving to PeerTube is just not doable. not when the most viewed videos on the platform (from people who also post to YouTube on parallel) are in the couple thousands, if that.

there’s no ad revenue on PeerTube, and with its puny audience, there’s no sponsorship or donation money either.

imo the best option, even if you’re a hobbyist, is to upload to both platforms and use that to funnel people to PeerTube (even if that means less revenue), or to use another platform like Nebula.

moving entirely to PeerTube is not doable for the vast majority of youtubers, unfortunately.

the game was bought back by Simon (the guy who owns Hypixel and sold the game in the first place) and it looks like it’s back in development!

proton without newell is proton, but with maybe a different direction

proton without valve's workers and WINE/DXVK contributors is nothing. it's literally nothing.

the same goes for basically any projects. the billionaire CEOs are (sometimes, not even always!) the people who take decisions. everyone else does the work. without the CEOs, the same projects would have decisions taken in other ways. without the workers, there would be nothing.

stop licking billionaire boots.

finding ways to breach the containment of webviews inside of apps has to be one of my favourite pointless hobbies.

i've noticed lately that there seems to be federation issues with lemmy.world. i don't receive updates from communities or users there, and looking at my profile from lemmy.world, it's missing a few comments that were posted in the last days, when usually it's much much quicker to update.

even when looking at .world communities on here when not logged in, they seem to be stuck in the past! for example, from here the last post from !games@lemmy.world is from 5 days ago, but on .world there are many more recent posts.

does anyone else have issues with them? are we blocking them, or are they blocking us?

does anyone know what would cause this precisely? why would anti-fingerprinting mess with the colors i use to edit an image in the browser?

i'd be tempted to brush this off as the website being malicious and lying to get me to deactivate fingerprinting protection, but the website is fully open-source and what they describe happened to me on Piskel (a pixel art editor, which would constantly mess up my colors in subtle but annoying ways)
