Never underestimate the stupidity of management...
I wasn't doing anything wrong, but I worked my ass off and took on projects no one else in my company could. They let me go anyways. I found out through people remaining that they had a couple really big contracts come up after that that they really wanted to take but my old manager(who argued against letting me go) told them there was no way they could take them because I was the only one that could've handled them. Few salves are as comforting as the schadenfreude of watching your old company fail in a way you could've prevented had they not fired you. Was a literal lynch pin and they pulled me.
