Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Details of the 14-point agreement revealed as senior US officials claim ‘major win’ despite significant concessions to Tehran

Donald Trump has signed a 14-point agreement with Iran, claiming it delivered a “major win” for the United States – even as it made significant political and financial concessions to Iran to reopen the strait of Hormuz and prevent a “worldwide depression”.

In extraordinary remarks on Wednesday, Donald Trump went from threatening Iran with a new wave of attacks to suggesting the country had basic rights to enrich uranium for civilian use, that he would not pressure Tehran to abandon its ballistic missiles programme and the US was “going to have to give back” billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets.

Those remarks, as well as the full text of the agreement – which was hailed by the Hezbollah chief, Naim Qassem, as a “great victory” – are likely to fuel anger in Israel and among hardliners in the Republican party who had urged Trump not to make a deal with Tehran.

Listening to him pat himself on the back for solving a problem he fucking created, is absolutely infuriating.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not to mention: I’m guessing part of the motive here is that someone finally dumbed down the concept of “the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is going to be GONE in mid-July” enough for him to somewhat understand it

But also, given how complex and convoluted international supply chains are, and how many products and goods are impacted directly and indirectly by petroleum supply shocks, I rather doubt we’re fully dodging the economic bullet that’s coming in the next few months.

Don't forget the fertilizer we couldn't get on the ground.

lol yep - it’s gonna be a wild ride when we start having food shortages in the US. And I am not sure it can be avoided at this point.

Edit: and that assumes that Israel isn’t going to once again spike the deal by continuing to bomb the shit out of Lebanon

[–] VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I heard screw worms can help in not needing food ever again.

lol oh yep - almost forgot about that whole thing 🫠

Jokes on us; thanks to his tariffs no one was buying those crops anyways.

[–] kylie_kraft@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

Did we ever expect anything else?

[–] Photonic@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

And he never even achieved the goal he supposedly created the problem for, which is Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities.

That's his operating policy

Invent a problem that doesn't exist

Pretend to resolve it

Demand Nobel peace prize

You did it, sir.

Was it the Swedes who said something to the effect of “We aren’t going to reward someone who brings a bucket to extinguish the fire they started.”

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

deal avoids world wide depression

A fucking depression that YOU started you fat orange fuck

I'm not an American and in principle I don't give many fucks about what idiots in other countries vote for to be their next leader but the US is a fucked up place with world wide reaching tentacles and whatever they do always ends up with consequences for the entire fucking world

Can you PLEASE already get rid of trump?

[–] EightBitBlood@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Been trying. Fucker keeps cheating at elections. Over the last 30 years, our government has slowly been purchased by private interests to the point where we can only investigate made up claims of election interference instead of actually real and viable ones. It's maddening, as our system no longer works, and there's literally no uncorrupted mechanism by which we can fix it.

As bad as the US is making the rest of the world, I assure you it's worse inside the states. And getting worse by the month.

The problem is very much a self correcting one though, as Orangalf Shitler is in incredibly poor health. To the point where he hasn't golfed since May. And the bloated sun baked bigmac usually spends every weekend golfing.

This bullshit dies with him, as the propaganda machine tied itself to his personality instead of manufacturing consent. Without his personality, even MAGA cultists will no longer consent to billionaires turning us all into well monitored and domesticated capital, milked daily for the oligarchs.

Trump dying would surely cure my depression a little bit.

Peace plan? Is that what mainstream media is trying to spin it? More like a 'I-Fucked-Up-And-I-Chickened-Out

Trump may take their broadcast licenses if they call it total surrender.

Don't shame the man for jacking himself off. Encourage it, and exploration! He could really learn a few things from David Carradine

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 16 points 3 days ago

Damn, a few more oopsies like this and he’ll be half as bad as wearing a tan suit or eating Dijon mustard… could you imagine?!?

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Why don't we all thank the president from preventing the ninth war of his year long administration?

And put on a suit for christs sake

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

Don't you dare say one year. We're getting closer to the halfway point of his shitty regime and don't want to feel any further away than we currently are.

Good job!

Someone should depress his skull with a small lead object.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 13 points 3 days ago

deal averts ‘worldwide depression’

Um. Isn't it more like "deal tries to end US-inflicted downward trend towards worldwide depression"?

This is how you lie while technically telling the truth.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

The real worldwide depression is the fact that this fucker hasn't died yet.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Someone needs to mash this up with Donvict's mug...

[–] newton@feddit.online 8 points 3 days ago
