The reasons brands do this is because they risk losing protections if their trademark becomes an established verb.

Joke's on them, I've been using "adobe" to mean "shit" for decades.
Let me wipe adobe off my ass
Trademarks are not verbs. So when I say something was photoshopped, it's clearly not using the trademark. So it's ok.
I photoshop things with GIMP all the time. I'm way better at it than when I use Adobes shit tier products..
It is now a verb according to the Oxford dictionary https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/photoshop
They can't do anything about it. It's already in the Oxford dictionary https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/photoshop
They should ask the Kimberly-Clark Corporation how well this went with their Kleenex brand
When a brand name falls into common usage, it can lose its trademark. That’s why Adobe is so pissy about this.
The fact that they have to put out this means they know they are close to losing it.
Funny. I "photoshopped" (performed transformative manipulations [?] over) images, image macros and "memes" using Paint, Paint.NET, GIMP, Krita, ImageToolbox (Android) and some stock Gallery editor (Android).
Notably, not the Adobe® Photoshop®. Poop them.
There is some good reason behind "decorporating" slang, specifically i'd like to "degoogle" it. "Dephotoshopping" is sounds a bit nice too. I'd prefer some more general, less lock-ining term.
Do not use our holy name as a slur 👉👈 uwu
This possibility has probably been averted by the advent of AI
Uhh I mean Photoshop has AId all over this picture owo
Adode invented photos and shops and nouns.
