I can’t believe there are real people out there that believe Hexbear of all things has done measurable damage to the Democrats. The sidebar says we’re at 724 users/day, there’s no way a niche shitposting community on a reddit clone swayed opinions on the Harris campaign even a single point. These people have completely bought into the helpless act the Dems put on and it’s sad.

Liberals truly believe politics is like Goku charging the spirit bomb. If you don't offer enough intangible support like raw belief, you end up destroying everything. They think there's a god of liberalism that we're harming while we're simultaneously giving spiritual energy to the demonic God of Russia.

Liberals believe in this because they're so detached from political input they've decided politics must necessarily operate through spectacle and reaction. If you react incorrectly, it changes the nature of the spectacle, is how they see it.

Every leftist, when asked if/why we support China or any AES state, should simply say "I don't support them, I like them. Unless the power of my opinion is some kind of real prayer, it makes exactly 0 difference"

There are people who say not only do you need to vote for the dems, it is still your fault if they lose if you were ever critical of them.

it's not enough to support the party you must also be unquestionable and never critical

[–] RedNajm@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago (4 children)

"Still a net negative on society" and it's literally donating $1,500 to Gazans vs. thinking we're annoying, very equal things, lemmitors and not a totally privileged position

And the people who're saying they did more than us by voting for Kamala (100% confident they didn't donate a dollar to palestinians btw) is just cope

[–] Demifriend@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Even if you are willing to accept that she would have been better for Palestinians than Trump, she lost! If all someone did to help Palestine is vote for her, then they have literally accomplished nothing!

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

And if you’re only taking voting into account and doing a very rough “how many people are dying in Gaza” as the metric, as bad as Trump has been the sound position would be that voting for Trump was harm reduction (edited to avoid implying people here voted for Trump, which I doubt literally anyone did).

Israel has, on average, killed less people in Gaza per day under Trump than they did under Biden. That remains true. This basically says nothing about Trump it’s just to point out that Joe Biden was a genocidal maniac who loved killing Palestinians more than anything in this world including his own party’s ability to win elections.

Best part about that is that they act like all of our users are Americans. Like, you guys do realize that the Internet is a worldwide thing right? Right??? They are mad about > 700 Americans saying they wouldn't vote for Harris. Holy shit guys

Lmao they are REALLY mad

I keep forgetting people care about our little chatroom until threads like this come up

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 56 points 1 month ago (1 children)

chefs-kiss just a beautiful work of art. If you wrote dialogue like this for a serious politically-charged story, you would be laughed at for being "unrealistic" or "biased"

Also,

Everyone involved here sucks

You mean including the Palestinians who receive these donations? They're being a bit too happy going mask off in there. It's always so obvious that every liberal Blue MAGA ZioNazi creep fucking hates Palestinians and are constantly looking for justifications for their hatred like bringing up Kamala's loss as a slam dunk against leftists. Just wish every single one of them would just completely take off the mask and be honest with what they want to actually say

[–] RedNajm@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago

fucking ghouls, that comment was totally mask off pit

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 54 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Lemmy.world really is washed, the two biggest points against Hexbear (beyond vague "they do awful stuff" nonsense) are tired red scare tropes and pulling a whataboutism for Ukraine, trying to put an entirely different situation with entirely different context to the naked genocide committed in Palestine past and present. .world has never been federated with Hexbear, all of this is just nonsense.

[–] RedNajm@hexbear.net 46 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This is a whole level of being beyond parody too lol, lemmitors who haven't donated shit to either cause, even the one they're pulling the whataboutery on, browbeating I and other users for donating to Palestinians, because of a label? lmao

Like chief i'd rather be a tankie who's actually done good shit in comparison to a liberal who has sat on their ass for two years, blamed victims of genocide. and haven't done anything even for their own causes. If that's wrong according to Axisworld then i don't want to be right qin-shi-huangdi-fireball

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 30 points 1 month ago

Well said! That's why most of us either identify as "tankies" directly or point it out as nothing more than a pejorative for leftists that support existing socialism.

This is some top tier slop. They hit all the classic lib talking points, every single one. Can't even acknowledge raising money for Palestinians on 3 separate occasions is objectively good.

"Results don't matter, only my fee fees do!"

[–] RedNajm@hexbear.net 55 points 1 month ago (1 children)

that comment on "why not donate to Ukraine" is just... incredible. Like one country has the entire fucking backing of NATO and the US, the other one is having genocide committed against them by a US backed state. i WONDER why we'd focus on Palestine curious-marx

Also, i'm 100% sure that none of these people complaining have actually donated shit to either lmao

[–] Nopeace@hexbear.net 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

100%. Palestinians are not real humans to them. At best they are an abstraction of suffering they never have to deal with and at worst they just see them as deserving of death for opposing US hegemony

[–] RedNajm@hexbear.net 43 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ukrainians are VVhite so that makes them infinitely more valuable to the western liberal/"leftist"

If anyone from greater Lemmy is reading this and is upset at our stance WRT Ukraine (especially vis a vis Nazis in Ukraine):

Hi! I hope you like our humble website. I also hope our stance on Ukraine doesn't come across as cruel, and instead it can be understood for what it is. Though I don't speak for everyone, I would like to briefly clear up misconceptions:

  1. The belief that Nazis in Ukraine justify Russian invasion is laughable. No amount of Nazis in the country, by their mere presence, would justify the war crimes, assaults on civilian areas, further development of weapons (both conventional and hybrid warfare) that inevitably leads to both sides increasing militarization instead of funding good causes, ecological destruction, and so on. If anyone tries to justify the entirety of the invasion based on the presence of far-right elements in Ukraine, they are wrong. Plain and simple. The actual reasons why some of us take Russia's side are fundamentally because we believe that, absent the invasion, there has already been a war going on that merited direct intervention on Russia's side. Not just in the local context of Ukraine, but Western imperialism more generally. That is a different discussion.
  2. The relevance of the presence of Nazis and other reactionary right wing elements in Ukraine, particularly among Ukraine's armed forces, is in the effect it has on the prospects of arming Ukraine. Objectively speaking, far right Ukrainian Nationalists have penetrated into the armed forces and the government. Giving weapons to Ukraine inarguably means giving Nazis more power, like it or not. We believe that the effort to fight to the last Ukrainian, scuttle peace negotiations, and escalate the conflict via the increase in Europe's military industrial complex are fundamentally a continuation of the US' strategy of using fascism to combat democratic forces,^[See: Gabriel Rockhill's The U.S. Did Not Defeat Fascism in WW2, It Discretely Internationalized It] which goes back to the start of the Cold War in 1917^[See: Michael Parenti's Blackshirts and Reds] with the Russian Civil War and is most clearly exemplified in CIA operations like Bloodstone, Gladio, and Condor.

Lol, there's a comment saying we are evil and do "awful stuff". Like, shitposting and countering capitalist propaganda is evil and awful now? Liberals are completely fucked up, the amount of brainworms the fediverse have for us have to be a record somewhere.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago

The most evil person a thing can do to a liberal is make a liberal unable to hide their head in the sand and force them to recognise that liberalism will solve nothing and only makes the world a worse place.

[–] gobble_ghoul@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago (2 children)

My favorite things about those types of comments are that they pretty much never back it up, and in the rare occasions that they try to, they link you to some comment that clearly isn't saying what they're claiming it said.

I personally made KKKamala Harri$$ lose because I voted for John Brown in a deep red state. I also called my boy Putin personally on the phone and told him to invade. I was high when I suggested it as a joke, but he took me seriously. Whoops.

deep-nesting very-intelligent "you claim to be leftist, yet you did not vote for Kamala Harris!"

[–] Sulvy@hexbear.net 46 points 1 month ago

They’re as evil as MAGA as far as I’m concerned.

These people genuinely live on a different planet lol

[–] axont@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago

I think it's really telling how their main refrain is that we're carrying water for supposed evil authoritarian regimes. Who are these regimes? What a coincidence they're all the countries who have found themselves at odds with western imperialism huh weird

And their brains can't take it. It's staring at them right in the face, they like the white western liberal order and that is the fundamental core of their political ideology. They'll say they don't like the socialism of China or the DPRK, but are fine with the socialism of Sweden or Denmark. Yeah OK wow you like the white people and think the Asians are inherent despots

Like they've been more open about it in recent years but I wish they'd just come clean with themselves. They believe white western people do society correctly and that non-western people have incorrect genetics or a flawed culture that forces them to be evil. That's their main problem with us.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago (3 children)

All of this is bullshit fuck these people.

I am really starting to understand how revisionist history gets written and propagated so quickly.

We, as the clearly superior posters, win so hard at posting, that they have to de-federate or risk completely losing the narrative. And because we won so hard, and so decisively, we don't really think about it that often, because we know we were on the correct side of this.

The other side, on the other hand had to de-federate to maintain their narrative, which means that the entire reason for their existence eventually becomes justifying that decision. We have to be the worst of the worst, we must have done all this terrible stuff (which they think of because they were the ones who did it), because the alternative is that they were wrong, so wrong that they had to cloister themselves away from those that were correct.

And so the weaver never stops weaving.

Like, this is some absolutely crazy revisionist history here, dear Lord. The idea that Ada 'tried to unite the trans communities' is such bonkers horseshit. They tried to convert the trans community here, and maybe more substantial stuff was going on behind the scenes but there was so much "Y'all must be cosplaying." crap that was tolerated from blahaj, it was insane.

I will never take people who unironically love the DNC (who is by any metric whatsoever - even a liberal one - a fascist organization) or want to give them power as "harm reduction" seriously. Especially not when they call themselves "anti-authoritarians" while supporting one of the most overtly "authoritarian" orgs in the 21rst century.

You might as well have a circlejerk of mussolini supporters talking about how pro-jewish they are. The fact that hitler exists does not make them the good guys.
