There is something deeply wrong with US politicians

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They will blame literally anything other than themselves and their greed.

Not to mention the seal will only take what it needs, and it's a fraction of the amount humans take (a lot of which is wasted)

"Oh man I know we extract like tons of fish that we don't need daily but fuck this seal for eating 50 during winter so it doesn't starve" or some shit

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 22 points 2 weeks ago

They should really thank the seal for reducing supply and therefore letting them jack up the price due to more demand. Though they're probably just mad that they can't charge the seal money for being a seal.

Just for families though. Individuals and other collective groupings of people are not seeing their food costs raise at all. The seals are seeing to it. They only want to destroy the American nuclear family, and I think this is a respectable position to have.

Leave the seals ALONE anprim-pat

MFW when I imagine doubling my body weight in a month gorging on fatty protein rich seafood, to the point where I can only lay on the ground and growl at any who dare approach hyperflush

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

Fun fact: The food costs for the seal are unchanged. Salmon still costs zero.

Image caption is technically correct because the actual point of view is of the human taking the photo.

I know I was so confused, I assumed and assume she plans to eat the seal.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago

point of view huh

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 24 points 2 weeks ago

Seals are amazing and fucking scary sounding animals. As a kid a friend and I were in a park in the country after dark which was near a beach and it started to sounding wild dogs going bananas, scary as hell. So we ran back to where we were staying and were told it was seals. They are cool as hell and part of keeping the endangered species that they eat alive is to keep an ecosystem going where they can keep doing that. I really wish people cared about animals.

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

And by 'being dragged in comments' I may or may not mean being dragged by a sea lion undertow for a five minute hold down

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She is being roundly mocked and derided.

Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez wrote in her letter. “We need NOAA, in close partnership with states and Tribes, to examine what strategies yield the best results for pinniped removals—including direct, lethal removal.”

Kinetic attack on the pinniped population for a couple farm raised salmon is certainly a thing to do.

Did not have seal clubbing making a comeback on the bingo card.
