Okay let's start with the obscene horde you're sitting on, redistribution sounds lovely!

Elon's lying to the public due to this.

When would Elon Musk be a trillionaire?

Kalshi's prediction market shows an 82% chance Elon Musk becomes a trillionaire before 2027, with his current wealth over $800 billion.

funnily enough in the digital world porkies produce unlimited goods, yet they don't provide free money to buy them, why is that?

[–] ghosts@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Musk/Yang '28 lathe-of-heaven

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago

Elon is what you'd get if Reddit were a person

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why is every single billionaire on the same level of a 6 year old when it comes to understanding finance?

[–] baeb66@lemmy.today 12 points 2 months ago

Equal parts "they think they are geniuses because nobody in their proximity tells them they're idiots" and "they pay smart people to handle their money but believe their success is self-made".

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

"Are you willing to pay higher taxes to fund this?"

"What?"

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, at least he recognized AI is causing unemployment. There is that.

[–] fox@hexbear.net 28 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It's not though, it's being used as a smokescreen. The one useful thing it can do

[–] Salah@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sometimes melon just says populist things he doesn’t believe in to make people like him. The way he lobbies to political bodies is the exact opposite of what he’s saying publicly sometimes.

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah, this is clearly to soften his image in the eyes of us plebs, especially as his net worth tends towards a trillion

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 months ago

Yes, and we’ll fund it by taxing billionaires out of existence. The more capital they squeeze from the system, the more we get paid. Everybody wins.

Translation: Gimme money, money me, money now, me a money needing a lot now.

Does he think his groKKK and all that ai robotic shit will pay off for him?

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

Elon, you do realize that you still need people to create the lines right? And that if you don't pay them more than your unemployment checks, they will simply stop working? And that if you have to pay them much more to actually work, suddenly you aren't going to really see a savings in labor from using AI and robotics, which means that the prices will have to go up in order to maintain the rate of profit AND THAT IS WHAT INFLATION IS?

Absolute fucking moron.

I still don't see how UBI doesn't t hurt capital. If he is calling for it though I have to reconsider things

[–] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To answer in earnest, it would only be palatable to the bourgeoisie in imperial nations where the UBI is essentially paid for by uneven exchange by stealing from the victims of imperialism. If/when the third world throws off its yoke, UBI and more broadly social democracy will become totally untenable to the bourgeoisie

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

This is the best analysis I have seen of the situation. Thank you, that makes sense

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You're forgetting that he's a massive dumbass

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

That is a strong critique

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

I wonder how many days until grokkk summarises Player Piano to Elon and that becomes his new personality

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

Those goods and services: AI girlfriends and boyfriends

[–] volcel_olive_oil@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

luckily prices for goods stay the same if you produce massive amounts suddenly
