North Korea has been sneaking thousands of fake IT workers into US tech companies via LinkedIn to fund their nuclear program. A recruiter discovered that asking them to say ‘Kim Jong Un is a fat ugly pig’ on camera instantly exposes them, they freeze, fake a connection drop, then vanish forever.”

Hey maybe people don't want to be blindsided into saying some weird shit on camera.

I wouldn't continue an interview where i was asked to repeat some shit like that

[–] NinaPasadena@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

Literally. Like if someone asked me to say that I wouldn't fake a connection drop I'd just ask them to repeat themselves while filming and then fuck off because what weird lil freaks

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

"hey you look Asian, i need you to say some weird shit"

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 week ago

I'd rather be a DPRK bot than a USA ghoul.

[–] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 53 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Try getting the Israeli IT guy to say “Genocide is bad.”

[–] darkcalling@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

Next day your company gets put on blast by the ADL and sued for anti-semitism by Dersh.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 50 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As someone in tech actively interviewing right now, if someone told me to say "Donald Trump is a fat ugly pig" I too would drop off the call. Not because I love Trump or am afraid Trump would come after me for saying it, quite the opposite in fact. Fuck Trump. But what a fucking ridiculous and unprofessional thing to say to someone during an interview. Any further conversation would be a complete waste of my time. Absolutely not going to waste my time as a professional with a company that thinks that's an appropriate thing to say to anyone in that setting.

So really the post should say "to the surprise of nobody, DPRK tech workers respond like a reasonable human when I say something completely heinous"

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 48 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i don't even think these are necessarily "DPRK tech workers", just anyone who looks asian

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh that's fair I didn't even consider that level of racism. Like actively trying to get North Koreans in trouble is a level of racism I could imagine, assuming anyone who looks vaguely Asian must be North Korean is beyond my racism-imagination

[–] Bay_of_Piggies@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

I can almost guarantee you that every person that instantly disconnected felt utter disgust due to the obvious racism emanating from the interviewer, and weren't NK secret agent coders.

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes someone must stop this nefarious scheme of working in exchange for money

thousands of fake IT workers

what makes them fake? Doing real work?

Also, from now on whenever I see an american, I'll come to them and ask them to insult donald trump

[–] WafflesTasteGood@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago

CIA has been sneaking thousands of fake IT workers into foreign tech companies via LinkedIn to fund their terrorism program. A recruiter discovered that asking them to say ‘America lost the Vietnam war' on camera instantly exposes them, they freeze, fake a connection drop, then vanish forever.”

[–] MarxusMaximus@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Imagine making all Americans who apply for a job say something like "America deserved 9/11 and I spit on the graves of the scum that died in the towers." and then going to reddit to brag about how you figured out some secret trigger phrase that makes Americans drop calls.

Meanwhile the applicants are all telling their friends and family that they applied for a job and the interviewer tried to create blackmail material of them during the video interview.

[–] red_giant@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I imagine also a bunch of South Koreans thinking “who the fuck is this racist turd?”

[–] CrispyFern@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

The reaction the redditor thinks he's getting: aware

The actual reaction: friend-visitor-3

This reminds me of that Keye and Peele sketch where their grand plan to rob a bank was to sneak in and work there, slowly gaining the money from paychecks given to them over decades.

[–] ryepunk@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Mitchell and Webb sketch where you run the con of putting seeds in the ground and growing crops to sell for more money than they were purchased for.

Boy meets world, where you cheat on a test by paying attention during class and learning the material to do well on the test.

"Listen here, you just bury this stuff in the ground and corn comes out, it's brilliant"

If I were the WPK I would give instructions to a small subset of digital infiltrators to act like they can never say anything bad about KJU, then have all the rest comply with whatever silly shibboleth that's asked of them.

That would maintain the illusion of "look, we're catching the North Koreans" while leaving them none the wiser.

$1,500,000,000,000 to up-armor the wingtips, mid fuselage, and tail; I'm on it boss!

[–] FortifiedAttack@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago

If someone told me to say "Bolsanaro is a bloated turd-filled fascist pig" in an interview I would probably freeze as well.

Because I'd immediately wonder what the fuck the interviewer's impression of me is to even prompt such a question.

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago

"Fund their nuclear program" is an evil sounding way to say "make money".

And btw, only a necessity because of the evil sanctions the US imposes on them.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago

I'll be pretty disappointed when this all turns out to be fake. Infiltrating IT to eventually bring down the American economy sounds cool as hell.

This is kind of funny, kind of frightening, and deeply, tragically sad all at once!

Kinda like Voldermort.

The turing test, but you're trying to distinguish actual redditors from bots.

[–] Emmi@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Kinda like Voldermort.

Hahaha of course a liberal has to include Harry Potter. Those are the only books a liberal will ever read.

[–] FortifiedAttack@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It doesn't even make sense in this context.

Did you know that you can find CCP spies by asking them to pull the corners of their eyes and say "removed ping pong winnie the pooh is a fat fuck", they'll disconnect immediately

[–] mayo_cider@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sorry about the slur, but this is honestly funnier

Recruiter purging their accounts of anyone looking even slightly Asian.

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If we assume that this guy believes every wild propaganda point about Korea, which we can safely assume, then this is an insanely evil thing to do. He is trying to get someone to do something that he believes could get them and their entire family killed.

[–] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

lmao @ the “ooh american servers are too easy for me big-cool” sneaky brag

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (3 children)

It's a good thing my wholesome chungus western democracy would never harvest my data and put unnecessary strain on infrastructure with bitcoin mining.

The amount of crypto you'd get from a big company's servers is likely comparable to <$10k USD in ASICs anyway. Who GPU mines?

westerners (and USians most of all) are so propagandized that they completely lose their grip on reality when "the enemy" is brought up. the enemy is often a "big threat" like xi-pog and putin-wink but as we can see here there's another Designated Enemy which is the DPRK.

90% or the roddit comments on this post are westerners going frothingfash at the thought of a DPRK agent (not a person, not an individual, an agent of the state) entering the glorious international-community-1international-community-2 and tricking innocent (but smart) westerners into thinking they're a real person, then sending their entire paycheck back to the evil hivemind where the money will be forged into nuclear weapons. these agents must be stopped, and luckily they can be stopped by simple tricks because they run on folklore demon/vampire/goblin logic where certain phrases can force them to break down.

any dissenting comments, not even remotely pro-DPRK, not even not western chauvinist, but simply pointing out that these "tricks"

  • are racist against east asians in general
  • don't work, because an actual lying spy would be allowed to lie
  • sound unprofessional to real job applicants, who would shut down the interview because fuck working for a weird creepy racist employer
  • etc

are shut down by hordes of redditors calling them "bots" "propaganda" "[ableist slur]" and so on.

is there any hope for the west when these are your average westerners?

[–] Emmi@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 1 week ago

is there any hope for the west when these are your average westerners?

The fact that even western leftists end up going pro-liberal as soon as DPRK is deeply unsettling. The propaganda is unbelievably rooted into their psyche. A "leftist" forum called Knockout that I used to be in even considers defending DPRK on the same level as being a holocaust denier lol

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i'm pretty sure the vast majority of people in the u.s. don't see anyone outside its borders as fully human; the DPRK just gets some of the worst of it

[–] NinaPasadena@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

To go even further most Americans probably see almost no one within the U.S. borders as human either. Like most Americans seem to genuinely think they (and maybeeeee a few close friends and family) are the only ones truly experiencing consciousness and everyone else is some type of automaton made to serve treats

[–] Oskolki@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Juche is somewhat of an anti-thesis to Imperialism.

Something the "Don't thread on me" crowd is so envious about you'll often find them being fans of the DPRK itself, but the caveat is that they don't see it as anything related to socialism.

After all, if Juche Flag was actually chosen by the majority of it's people, it would go against the "Humans nature is the path of least resistance!" argument.

[–] Tiocfaidhcaisarla@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

I despise how clever redditors think they are

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Taking the rest of the story at face value, what could possibly be the validity of the last paragraph? How do they know no one can say it? They know the people they "caught" couldn't say it, but that's absolutely no indication of it catching everyone. If someone did get through this, how would they know? It's like dragging a fishing net, hauling it up, pointing to the fish and saying that it catching some fish is evidence that no fish could get through.

Which is like a paragraph to say this is functionally a form of "survivorship bias."
