It’s Taco Tuesday, folks!

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 39 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

OMG it's just too funny. Wakes up in the morning: "I'm extincting an entire civilization". In the evening after his nap: "Meh".

I mean it's actually not so funny, I was half expecting news of a nuke on Tehran by the evening. The commander in chief of the largest military in history is a lunatic. Everything's fine.

My concern is he's obviously getting worse. What will he do next week?

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

Tbh, I think anyone but himself is probably an upgrade.

[–] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago

God, it's actually Tuesday.

I guess we should be grateful that the cosmic beings who got the assignment, "create the worst possible world," are terrible writers?

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 46 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not making fun of this. I'm not saying TACO! I'm happy about this. I just want Operation Epstein Fury to end. I don't want more kids murdered in my name, under my country's flag. We need to get that motherfucker out of office by any means.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It wouldn't take many republicans to get him out. It's just a job that he's too old and narcissistic for. Fire his ass.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

But it would.cost them money

[–] Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 30 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

My theory is that the genocidal pedophile scum at the Head of the United States and Israel are trying to provoke Iran into attacking one of their allies or escalate the war further so that they can use that as a justification for the mass murder they eagerly want. Trump and his cabinet are rabid animals so they will probably try to stage a false flag attack themselves.

[–] Godort@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

They're doing a bunch.

I think they're mostly testing the waters of public opinion to see how much they can get away with. In addition, they're manipulating the market with these announcements, so they can make bank through stock trades, and on top of all that, like you say, if Iran escalates, then they can escalate in kind.

[–] carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

do they even give a shit about justifications at this point?

[–] Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Regardless if justifications work or not. I feel It's important to be vigilant of how they will manufacture consent. I happen to live in one of the countries that was threatened by the trump regime, and if there is one thing we are learning about the debacle in Iran is that a militarily weaker country can manage it's geographical resources to at least put some pressure in a trump presidency that is not entirely popular with it's electorate and with an American economy that has very clear instabilities.

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And maga will forgive him immediately. Probably say he's being a great negotiator or some nonsense.

Impeachment is off the menu boys. Like it was ever on the menu...

Pakistan : I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

you could...

[–] fiat_lux@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Like the two week lead last year for the decision to attack Iran? I'm not sure Iran will buy that. The US is maybe trying for a sequel to "Operation Midnight Hammer", or, as the media chatter is heavily astroturfing right now, having ground troops pillage the uranium stockpile.

The media needs to stop reporting every line of bullshit Trump says and focus on what he and his bootlickers are actually doing. They keep letting him drown out the actual information with his predictable gishgallop.

[–] pubquiz@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Is it TACO Tuesday already?

[–] TransNeko@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

don't worry... Dementia Trump will forget all about his "promise" after all... we are at the mercy of a Dementia ridden pedophile with a god complex. it really can't get much worse than this.

[–] webp@mander.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

“Brave Sir Donald ran away, bravely ran away away, oh brave Sir Donald. When danger reared its ugly head he bravely turned his tail and fled. Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Donald!”

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

You think Donald Trump can run? The guy would get two steps and then collapse from exhaustion.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 weeks ago

Ceasefire also includes Lebanon, Israeli news site reports

Israel's Ynet is reporting that the ceasefire also includes Lebanon.

Citing security sources, the website said the ceasefire includes both Israel and Hezbollah laying down their weapons. It did not provide further details.

Israel is onboard with the ceasefire, too. Haven't they done a fair bit of firing during the Gaza ceasefire(s)?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Al Jazeera has Israel reporters saying this caught Israel off guard. Officials saying it caught them completely surprised

[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah there’s no way Israel doesn’t break the ceasefire by tommorrow.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Bets on when Iran says there is no deal?

I think they'll announce that Trump has agreed to negotiate on their proposed plan.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They already announced agreeing and reopening the Strait

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

From the bbc:

And even if Iran does fully open Hormuz – without conditioning passage on tolls or other payments – its ability to control the key geopolitical chokepoint is more clear now than ever.

In a statement after Trump's ceasefire message, Iranian foreign minister Seyed Aragchi said that Iran would halt its "defensive operations" and allow safe passage through the Hormuz "via coordination with Iran's armed forces". He added that the US had accepted the "general framework" of the Iranian 10-point plan.

That plan includes the US withdrawing its military forces from the region, lifting economic sanctions on Iran, paying compensation for war damages and allowing Iran to maintain control over Hormuz. It is hard to imagine Trump actually agreeing to any of those conditions – a sign that the next two weeks of negotiations could be treacherous.

Not exactly what I would call agreeing to open the straight.

As an early sunrise blossoms above Tehran, Donald Trump semi-coherently explains that he only agreed to stop conventional bombing and attacks.

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Art of the deal

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I mean he only agreed if Iran opens the straight. Iran hasn't said they will do that yet.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2026/4/7/iran-war-live-trump-warns-of-devastating-attacks-as-deal-deadline-nears

In a statement published by Mehr News Agency, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has confirmed the reported two weeks ceasefire deal negotiated by Pakistan.

The statement said that the ceasefire agreement was reached with the approval of Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/04/07/world/iran-war-trump-news/16398b41-0447-593b-bccc-87aa037ecdff

Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, said in a social media post on Tuesday night that the United States and Iran, “along with their allies,” had agreed to an immediate cease-fire. He said the cease-fire applies everywhere, “including Lebanon and elsewhere.” There was no immediate Israeli confirmation of a cease-fire.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I personally don’t believe it. I think he’s gonna let them relax their guard.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 weeks ago

Same. This is to calm markets.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

I'm sure they're well aware of this chance and will not let their guard down.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

This is a few days old, but also super relevant.

It's always two weeks!

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, that was obvious.

He sure fooled the media though.
