So this non-serving ass clown wants OTHER people to sign up for a draft to protect his “unparalleled freedoms and opportunities” while he sits back and enjoys them. Says our freedoms are the envy of the world. My brother, have you ever even left the country? Because nothing says “unparalleled freedom” like going bankrupt from a hospital visit, watching your kids do active shooter drills, and needing a draft to staff a military that already has the biggest budget on the planet. But sure, the whole world is just green with envy. Absolutely seething. They’re over there with their universal healthcare and paid parental leave just WISHING they could be us.

Why are people listening to Rob Schneider?

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 21 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Iran hasn't done anything to me, but Trump has.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

He's caused more harm to the US than Iran ever has.

As a matter of fact the real war would be civil war.

Finish up what the Union army needed to do to the South at the end of the war.

The biggest hotbeds of Confederate activity in the modern era can be found in Silicon Valley and Washington DC.

[–] FreeAZ@sopuli.xyz 14 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

"The only way we can have freedom is by killing some brown people who have done nothing to us." - Some fucking douchebag moron

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

I didn't see him at Fallujah when it was his turn to die for his country.

Curious that he's discovered a love of mandatory conscription so late in life

[–] PissingIntoTheWind@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

Say the literal one dimension comedian. How many times has Adam Sandler kept you in SAG?

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

Rob, have you tried just not saying anything? Come on, try it...

You can do it!

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

I just watched an episode of Last Week Tonight where Rob said some nice things about Victor Orban, or something along those lines. Not that Rob really ever had any credibility but anything he had is now gone.

dude's apex was the 'making copies' guy on SNL. one bit.

all downhill from there. he's a no-service shitbag who wants to say other people's kids should be conscripted.

all of this ignores the enormous harm a draft would do to our military - because I guarantee you the rich still won't serve, they'll all have bone spurs and asthma that fixes itself after a decade. and the poor will have to serve instead.

meanwhile, today, we have one of the best militaries in the world because the people serving genuinely want to be there - either for the service itself or benefits after - and all of this ignores the giant elephant in the room: conscription's great for meat waves.

anything requiring skill gets fucked. small unit tactics take ages to learn. logistical operations take longer. and you're not going to get conscripts in the backbone combat service and support units because that shit takes even longer to teach than infantry stuff. two year hitch? hell that's just barely enough time to get through basic, AIT and airborne school. that's when you're qualified to no longer be a danger to your fellow servicepeople.

I don't want to serve with conscripted people who are gonna get high/fucked up and get us all murdered. we saw what happened in vietnam, no thanks.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

That's also ignoring the possibility of folks like myself being conscripted, wherein I would be looking for the biggest how can I fuck everyone over situation. I see human life as cheap including my own, now imagine what I would consider acceptable casualties?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 13 hours ago

sounds like he got marching orders from putinspeak to Support orban

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago

Rob Schneider can go fuck himself. He's a pathetic no-talent hack who's fallen ass-backwards into money. And because of that he now thinks he's some sort of genius. In truth, he's a dunce.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

What "freedoms" does he think are being threatened by Iran?

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Our freedom to kill brown people?

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 3 points 13 hours ago

they're brown.

[–] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

I dunno man. The US doesn’t seem very free anymore.

[–] slappyfuck@lemmy.ca -5 points 8 hours ago

I think this is the first time I’ve ever agreed with Schneider!

[–] dasrael@lemmy.zip 4 points 17 hours ago

More attention grabbing comments from the most unserious buffoon of an "actor".

[–] terabyterex@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

what freedoms is iran taking from us citizens? trump is taking rights away.

how fucked in the head do you have to be to say we need the draft for this bullshit war. after 9/11 the majority of the country was united in a response yet ibdont remember hearing "bring back this draft". now this stupisld war and i have heard it a few times in the last week.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 13 hours ago

you will only be known as adam sandlers side kick, and Mooching off of his fame and success like a vulture.

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

You first Rob.

[–] kylie_kraft@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Rob Schneider, fucking idiot, says something fashy to remind people he still exists after being functionally unemployed for a decade

[–] silverneedle@lemmy.ca 3 points 19 hours ago

Let's not use 'unemployed' in a pejorative way.

[–] bufalo1973@piefed.social 2 points 17 hours ago

Says the guy that should be in prison for Judge Dredd.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Exactly what freedom is being threatened by Iran? The freedom to distract people from the Epstein files maybe?

I can agree with a draft that starts from the oldest citizens and steps down in age 1 year starting from 100 only after 100% of each year is drafted starting from the most wealthy and going down in income. No bone spurs get out of jail free the richest go first. The “most capable” get to prove it. If you can watch tv all day you can pilot a drone in the combat arena like you can play candy crush. It will help the economy run because no one will need to leave an entry level job open. No need for college exceptions. America’s housing problem will be rapidly solved as new stock becomes available. Those billionaires will get to pass on their wealth before they can waste it all investing in AI data centers and mega yachts. No teenagers living their entire lives with PTSD for someone else’s poorly planned adventures.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

The asswipe had two choices, serve Uncle Sam or the IDF. Did he? Nope and he can piss in the wind.

‘These Freedoms That We Cherish Do Not Come Without Cost’

Same fucking propaganda bullshit is being touted in Europe. Unbelievable that much of the working class buys into this

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

fuck Schneider in general, but about the draft i agree. the US is so nonchalant about starting a new way every Thursday is because there is no draft.

they live so far removed from consequences that they can afford to be ignorant while their elected representatives deal immeasurable pain to innocent people and children around the world every day for decades. half the population doesn't even know what the fuck is going on. if there were a draft they would be paying attention.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

As long as the people who voted for whatever winning party get priority. Then the non-voters.

[–] CAVOK@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Aren't votes supposed to be secret? Like, you won't know who voted for what party?

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Let the Election Commissions handle the draft selection process. Voters will be given a receipt of their ballot they can use to dispute a draft notice if they think they don't deserve to be called to serve in a war they voted against. All people are automatically registered to vote, so non-voters can't fly under the radar.

The benefit of tying draft selection to voting history greatly outweighs whatever theoretical privacy anyone has anymore. Young people who voted against wars shouldn't be getting dragged into conflicts the elderly and privileged are pushing for.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The actual votes are secret, but the fact that you voted is not. Party affiliation is not secret either; it is public record whether you participated in a party's primary election.

[–] CAVOK@lemmy.world 0 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Not American so I don't quite get how it works. Do you need to be affiliated with a party to vote? What does "...participated in a party's primary election..." mean?

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

From the "Vowel Party", Adam, Ellen, Igor, Oscar, and Ursula all want to be the congressperson for my district. I am a member of the Vowel Party. In May, I will vote in the Vowel Party Primary, to determine which of these five candidates will run as the Vowel Party Candidate in the General election. The other candidates will drop out of the general race when they lose the primary.

From the "Consonant Party", Bob, Charlie, David, Frank, and George all want the job. The "Consonant Party" will be running its primary in May, at the same time as the Vowel Party. They will determine which of these five candidates will run as the Consonant Party Candidate in the General election. I am not a member of the Consonant Party, so I do not get to vote in their primary.

(It is not expressly required that a general election candidate be a member of a party. Victor, Weller, and Xerxes can all run in the general election, independent of any party. However, it is rare for an independent to prevail in the general election.)

Next, at the November general election, I get to choose between the Vowel Party Candidate, the Consonant Party Candidate, or one of the Independent Candidates. I do not have to vote for a member of my party. I do not have to be a party member to vote in the general election; I can vote as an independent.

The fact that I voted in the primary is public record. The fact that I selected a Vowel Party ballot (Indicating membership in the Vowel Party) in the primary is public record. The specific vote I cast in that primary is secret.

The fact that I voted in the general election is public record. The specific ballot I cast in the general is secret.
