The live action movie made that more obvious, but the animated film he's less awful. And everything else is standard for the time.

If you are gonna confront a noble, its gotta be a mob or nothing.

An asylum for "crazy old maurice" vs declaring him possessed by the devil and killed is pretty forward thinking for French peasants.

I've held the belief that (for his time) Gaston was a good guy.

He liked Belle, when the rest of the town said she was weird for reading.

He's clearly respected throughout the region.

The beast (after being cursed for being a dick to strangers in need) did kidnap an old man and then did a prisoner swap for a girl he intended to groom into a sexual partner.

When the kidnapped man returns to the village and everyone refuses to believe him, Gaston does and leads the charge to rescue his daughter.

The fact that Belle was successfully love bombed and groomed doesn't make Gaston wrong for coming to rescue her from this rich noble that was kidnapping people.

The amount of people who would probably agree with the manifesto on Lemmy is probably higher than people expect.

That's fine, because I'll be making enough to afford it... as the outlined condition was a factory job that would pay well enough to afford a family home on that income alone.

I've traveled out of state about 10 times this year to 4 different states and I haven't seen one without a door.

It really isn't, BUT American media is a power house globally and makes many of our cultural events more prevalent than reality. If you travel the world, you'll find things far worse in India, Brazil, Mexico, and really most non-first world countries. I mean theyre so afraid of homosexualty in parts of the world they consider you a demon and kill you.

One of the reasons you hear about it in the USA is that its considered newsworthy. If it was as common as you were implying it would be like reporting on the prevalence of turkey sandwiches for lunch. We dont eat them all the time but its not weird or rare.

Modern men are engaged with their children of both genders and youtube has further propped up the narrative that being a good father means doing so at only a positive reflection of your masculinity.

Its not a US thing. Its a loser thing. This brand of machismo is globally available.

Yeah I look forward to it. Hopefully it purges some of the old guard that keep fucking it up.

I've noticed that every product I've bought in the past year with a zip-lock seal is destroyed with common use. I actually think the zip-lock itself has gotten stronger. The bag rips before the seal opens on half the bags now and whenever I try to opens bags I had no issues with before, I find myself stretching/warping the plastic before the seal eventually opens.

It's pretty frustrating and I am seeing it across many products. Cheese bags, storage bags, snacks etc...
