I have no idea what to expect. I only played Nier: Automata, but admittedly it was pretty dang good. The only misgivings I might have stem from how Tsurumaki handled GQuuuuuuX, but to be fair G-Quacks wasn't written by Yoko motherfucking Taro so, y'know.

I thought Nier Automata had very heavy Eva influence, so its cool to see Yoko Taro is writing. Still, this show will have to convince me it has a right to exist. I love Eva, but nothing after End of Evangelion really needs to exist

The Asuka short was shown at the anniversary event and supposedly they were real strict about no one recording it & threatened to sue anyone who posted it online. I haven't been able to find anything on it either besides the fact that it is supposedly titled Episode 27 (as it is written as a bookend to Asuka of the original/EoE continuity)

Supposedly it will get some sort of physical release though according to Japanese twitter users who managed to see it at the event so shrug-outta-hecks

I could only find these terrible screencaps, not sure if these are from the event (but it looks like it given the instruments on stage in front of the screen)

spoilerFrom what I gather, it is after EoE and Asuka's still struggling with her feelings for Shinji vis-à-vis a discussion between herself and Asuka the Eva Pilot (Don't quote me I can barely understand every 5th word). There's a cute goated moment at the end for all the Shinji-Asuka shippers (me) where she's waiting for him at the train station and when he shows up & offers her his hand, she envisions their future together shinji-impact lenin-heart As an EoE fan I rate it 10/10 because I don't really vibe with Mari even though canonically I guess she's supposed to be Shinji's true love (or at least Anno's lol)

yoko taro isn't really a draw for me but ok I guess, since I liked Thrice Upon a Time and it seems like it's gonna be taking place in that universe from the trailer but shrug-outta-hecks I'll also take a completely new setting/cast too, since that has been mentioned time and time again by Anno that he thinks Shinji's story is done (and rightfully so, with 3.0+1.0)

I dunno why everyone in this thread is mad given Anno himself has said before he wants Eva to be like Gundam. You better get ready for Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Thaumaturgy of Saturn's Pilot (it's gonna be lit too)

I mean I probably won't watch this since I never even liked Evangelion the first time. But I'll probably get the soundtrack on vinyl for Keiichi Okabe alone. That guy is an absolute genius.

Yeah. Knew they wouldn't let it not continue. Too much money left in it. Really didn't like what the films did, but maybe a series will be better if they have an overall plan for the story (probably not).

It's not as if this is necessarily worse than other stuff that gets 7 back-to-back seasons of anime, but it's not boding well for the industry to need to endlessly turn to older stuff instead of making something whole-cloth new. Anno and Khara could probably do whatever they wanted since they likely have the funds and talent (or at least the industry cache to acquire talent) to do whatever they want. We could finally get Uru In Blue or something, but whatever. Maybe it'll be like Star Wars and we'll get an Andor out of it sometimes where people are forced to slip their desired art into the skin of these industry titans.

Also, does anyone know what's up with how so few of the Eva games have been fan-translated? It's like 3-4 of them out of like 10 serious ones that you'd think one of the biggest anime series would have fans who'd want to translate the stuff like they do other smaller series. We've never had a series game/VN released in English about Eva, either (not counting that one phone gacha thing).

I JUST played some Battle Orchestra a few days ago and looked - there's an abandoned patch from 2015 if you want to try. Looks like it got some menu stuff translated at least

The PS2 or the PSP version? I can find a translation page for the PSP version that doesn't have any download links. Although I can do without menu translation stuff in most games, honestly. That's usually the easy part to navigate without speaking Japanese.
