Democrats: OH NO, IM ONLY A FEDERAL SENATOR, IM ONLY THE GOVERNOR OF AN ENTIRE STATE, IM ONLY THE SMOL BEAN PRESIDENT, I ONLY HAVE ABOUT HALF THE SEATS IN CONGRESS, I ACTUALLY ONLY HAVE A 1 SEAT MAJORITY, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO WITH HALF THE COUNTRY VOTING FOR ME

My god, I had to go confirm that his profile picture really is a photo of him with his glasses over his nose doing the old man pointing.
They call that "The Schumer" manoeuvre.

Real strong

old man points at posts
Sam Sedar has been pulling down his glasses to mock Schumer for quite a while, it’s become his current irresistible bit
I'm stealing this...
The US economy absolutely depends on it.
Yeah - because the economy is the most important thing.

I've seen so many liberals declare impeachment and Nuremberg trials and a general strike (often just a general boycott because the idea of a strike is a bit too scary for a lot of libs so the idea of making the sacrifice of not buying shit for a single day feels less confronting and it's a more reasonable sacrifice to wait one extra day for their Amazon Prime deliveries to arrive) and shit like that recently.
All are respectable sentiments in themselves but it's just posturing - literally the epitome of performativity. You aren't gonna start a general strike by asking a online forum which is public whether a general strike should happen, especially when the forum isn't even geared towards any actual, practical irl activism. And waiting around for Nuremberg 2.0 to be delivered to your laps is very much not how it happens in reality either and history bears this out as fact.
It's interesting to note how oblivious to power progressive libs are. Obama says "someone should do something" and the voterbase is like "we should all agree not to buy things for one day" and "I announce a general strike this time next week - who's with me?" yet when it's the run up to the presidential election and the left is saying "We will not vote for Kamala unless she commits to ceasing all support for the genocide and she walks back her policy on throwing trans people under the bus", those same progressive libs cry out like we collectively slapped them in the face. It breaks my brain. They are so confused and politically neutered that when they are confronted by groups actually wielding political leverage, they take it upon themselves to scold those groups or to play self-appointed referee as they attempt to start calling the shots for people who do not know them and have no respect for them whatsoever. Yet when it comes to bringing about change to resist fascism, as described in their own words, they have no fucking clue what to do even within the confines of their precious electoralism.
Here's a tip if you're a progressive: call your representatives and tell them that you will never vote for them again unless they make a public commitment to abolishing ICE. Call whoever dogshit presidential candidate the DNC is going to shove down your throats for the next presidential election and tell them that you have political principles and they aren't getting your vote unless they make the campaign promise to abolish ICE. Act like your words actually matter and that you genuinely believe that this is fascism. Or don't and just vote for the next clown who offers you a "return to normal" and a slightly increased minimum wage and subsidized bus tickets, but don't expect anyone to take you seriously - least of all the DNC.
Nuremberg trials
Bluesky liberals love to mention that. "I can't wait until the next Nuremberg." But it's a horrible analogy. It was a liberal world order show trial. I don't remember how how many Nazis were executed in the aftermath. My memory says about 25. That can't be right - can it?
Only 13 were executed.
In any case - as far as I know - hardly any people directly doing the murders, running the camps, etc faced any consequences at all. And - of course - there was Operation Paperclip, etc.
Ninja edit
Of the 177 defendants, 24 were sentenced to death, 20 to lifelong imprisonment, and 98 other prison sentences. Twenty-five defendants were found not guilty. Many of the prisoners were released early in the 1950s because of pardons. Thirteen of the 24 death sentences were executed.

general strike
I guess they actually believe if they post/tweet about it - something will actually happen.
It breaks my brain. They are so confused and politically neutered that when they are confronted by groups actually wielding political leverage, they take it upon themselves to scold those groups...
It breaks my brain too.

I wish I could be optimistic about this year's elections and 2028. But the dems will fall in line and vote for whatever dogshit pols the dem machine serves up.
There are many people shouting "Go Soviets!" and "Go Communism!"
I'm shouting go Benjamin Ferencz and the rule of law!

Indeed. And it's such a joke because it's completely oblivious to WWII history, as if the Nazis did some bad things and then next the ICJ swooped in and charged Nazis for their crimes. Feels like there was a big chapter of history between when the Nazis started kicking off with this shit and the start of the Nuremberg trials that the libs are forgetting about here (but that's because this chapter proves that resistance requires far more than just posturing online.)
I wish I could be optimistic about this year's elections and 2028. But the dems will fall in line and vote for whatever dogshit pols the dem machine serves up.
Yep. But if the progressives really believed a fraction of what they claim they believe in comments online then they would be calling and making these demands at a bare minimum. It blows my mind that as staunch defenders of electoralism and reformism, these guys don't even know how to use the vehicle for change that they ostensibly love so much; they act like patrons of a museum rather than artists - they point at pretty things and go "Wow, I really like this!!" but they have zero involvement in the production of the work themselves. Having an appreciation for pointilism doesn't make you an artist when you've never made a single point yourself. That makes you a spectator. In the same way, you're not about reformism if you've never pushed for reform - you're just a person who shuffles past examples of reformism and to go "Ooooh, that's pretty!" and then you have the audacity to identify as a reformist.
I think this is what progressives can't understand about why I criticize them so much. At least conservatives say what they are going to do and then, generally, they do it. (And at least they don't expect me to smile and express my endless gratitude to them while they fuck over me and the groups I care about.) Progressives love to proclaim they are this and that yet, when it comes to following through on anything they claim to be, they don't do shit.
I just wish they would act like they believe their own words. They've been calling Trump a fascist for how many years now and what have they done about it in all that time?
So, prediction time: they are gonna run with AOC as VP in the next presidential election if shit doesn't simmer down soon as a way to soothe the aggrieved conscience of the progressive. They'll keep her on a ridiculously short chain and she will be a willing participant in this because AOC is AOC, plus as VP they'll trot out the "but she's not the president - it's not fair to expect the second most powerful political figure within an administration to have power" line like they did for in defense of Kamala under Biden (silly authoritarian tankies, don't you understand that the US is liberal democracy and not a totalitarian system - that's why Kamala Harris was a functionary and a figurehead who, apparently, was devoid of any real political power.)
Watch the progressives fall over themselves to vote for the next "nothing will fundamentally change" candidate because they have a parasocial relationship with Alexandria "strongly worded statements" Ocasio-Cortez.
reform
It's pretty rare that a "reform" post at Bluesky does any numbers at all. But Schumer farts out a "Somebody should do something!" post and the liberals/progressives actually believe in the nonsense he might actually do something. If a top Bluesky account posted "Call your senators to shitcan Schumer." - I think the general response would be very hostile and the tone would be "We must be unified."
And I think that account gets 1,000s of unfollows within 24 hours. The same goes for Jeffries.
AOC
If one day she became president - she will have changed so much she might as well be Kamala 2.0.
"strongly worded statements"
I can't believe the dems can't even update their messaging. It's like their forever go-to move is waving a white flag vigorously.
I know this is gonna sound out of context by taking the struggle for black liberation in the US and doing a "but what about the white people??" but hear me out. It recalls MLK laid out in Letter from a Birmingham Jail:
First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.”
This policing of a struggle for justice was so effective and it made white progressives feel so secure from the threat of people of color having rights and status in society equal to them that I swear they internalized it, or at least the progressive political structure internalized it, and now this sentiment has festered to the point that it gets used against even the most Milquetoast reformist who calls for any change whatsoever.
It's basically the imperial boomerang effect taking place entirely within the imperial core.
"Shut up and vote dem. You can push for change at a later date - I agree with what you're calling for but now is not the time to demand that we abolish ICE. The most important thing right now is to vote for the pro-ICE candidate to get Trump out of office."

"The most important thing right now is to vote for the pro-ICE candidate to get Trump out of office."
I wonder how many dems running in 2026 will actually say stuff like "I'm a proud democrat. But we need border security. When I was in the Marines we had a saying - 'Secure the perimeter...' "
Given the number of military veterans that are coming out of the woodwork to run under the dem ticket while centering the need for more ~~treats~~ benefits for veterans, it feels like we're at the most mere months away from this happening.
Extremely J Wellington Wimpy voice: "I would gladly pay you today for my treat to be delivered at least one day removed from this symbolic day."
Who does he think has the power to start impeachment proceedings? If you discount the overwhelmingly likely explanation that he just doesn’t feel like doing anything, it genuinely sounds like he’s waiting on Joe Manchin or King George or God to do his job for him
Sticking my glasses all the way up my nose to say that articles of impeachment have to be introduced in the House.
Which is why Schumer is posting this and not Jeffries.
They only call for action that they personally cannot accomplish, so liberals can scold you about how you're technically incorrect.
Rorschach tells a story.
"Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. The great clown Schumer is in town tonight giving a speech. Go and see him. That should pick you up.' Man bursts into tears. Says, 'But doctor... I am Schumer.' Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains."
Better pass budgets to keep funding her and her organization! That'll teach her
"Someday, the Bailey's (Schumer's imaginary friends) will come and wash all the scum out of the government!"
Chuck Schumer's Last Note
I, Chuck Schumer, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with an evening with the Bailey's playing low impact bocce in the backyard and awkwardly trying to get a wifeswap going.
