[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 75 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

How do these people not feel deep soul-wrenching embarrassment posting this filth?

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 69 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The sheer craving for "thank you for your service" comments.

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago

Shame is a social function and no one in Canadian society is shaming them for it.

I did war crimes for you Trump and this is how you repay me?!

[–] Red_October@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Shoulda checked what’s happened to members of the U.S. military when they’re retired from war crimes. Since literally the revolutionary war.

There’s a great paragraph during the forward for the book ‘Tunnels of Cu-Chi’~~lol~~ explaining how much easier it was to even locate first hand accounts from the Vietnamese freedom fighter veterans from the war than the American draftees. After the Vietnamese victory, the fighters were taken care of and hailed as heroes. Because they were. The draftees from the U.S. were difficult to find.

I don't think you understand sir, I am the reason your boots are so shiny, I have been the one tirelessly licking them for decades, and now you're acting like I do nothing for you? For shame sir!

[–] whiskers165@hexbear.net 47 points 2 weeks ago

dogs of the American empire surprised they are being treated like dogs

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 39 points 2 weeks ago

Posting their Ls

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 37 points 2 weeks ago

Can someone explain this to me, I've seen two of these reposted here. "doing nothing for the USA in Afghanistan"... why are they posting this, what is it supposed to mean?

[–] D61@hexbear.net 29 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

eh... anything that makes the idea of enlisting less palatable to future generations.

[–] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah like shitty that they did that but at least they can recognize their mistake and dissuade future generations from making the same one.

It won't bring back the dead but can help avoid more of them.

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

but at least they can recognize their mistake

Unfortunately, they are not. "Doing nothing" in this case is sarcastic, because Trump said NATO does nothing for the US. All the i-love-killing-people from non-US NATO countries didn't like that.

[–] D61@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

It turned out that there were a handful of people who had been in one branch or another of the US military in my own family and not a single one really talked about it in any detail. (I never asked any questions so... that's on me) And I wonder to this day if I would have enlisted had anybody just casually, over the course of my childhood, found a way to mention how being in the military wasn't all that great one a good day and crimes against humanity on a bad day.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What a crazy thing to post about.

[–] Oppopity@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It's a trend on r/pics there's more of them.

[–] Red_October@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Dude fuck reddit.

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

We need to nuke the entire Reddit belt fuck these vile scum

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 26 points 2 weeks ago

As fast as they are to claim to be the most patriotic [insert whatever Western vassal state you'd like], they sure do seem quite fast to remind everyone that they are vassals to the US empire.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 24 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks for the heroin

[–] CocteauChameleons@hexbear.net 22 points 2 weeks ago

Damn imagine dying or getting a limb blown off for the US and not even being one of their propagandized citizens haha

[–] Spongebobsquarejuche@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

Me and the lads would like a little recognition for our war crimes.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

Well, better late than never the EU decides to forget about this colonial nonsense and tries to make amends, right? anakin-padme-2

They’re going to stop being US stooges, right? anakin-padme-4

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

agony-soviet I spent decades saying it and they just...tweeted it out

[–] Edamamebean@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Someone should post that photo of Ben Roberts-Smith cheering on his buddy drinking beer out of a deceased Afghan man's prosthetic leg captioned "Just some Australians doing nothing for America"

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

Or a screenshot from that video of that Australian who shot an unarmed, cowering Afghan while his (the Australian's) dog was attacking him

[–] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

Holy shit I just now put together what that other post with the British troop was about. I assumed that he was just being publicly aware of the fact that Iraq/Afghanistan were meaningless conflicts in regards to the American public and that his presence there was "doing nothing." These guys are actually butthurt about something Trump said and want their pat on the back for being loyal imperial dogs? This is why he calls you suckers.

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

C'mon guys. Tony Blair sacrificed his career for American military adventures. Show some respect to our NATO footstools.

[–] ReallyCoolDude@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Can you imagine being proud of this shit. Like when Americans were proud to be Korea, Cambodia or Vietnam combatants.
