if denmark blocked exports to the USA there would be boots in copenhagen by the weeks end. The master can choose at any time to put down the dog, especially if the dog bites them

Yeah, thats basically the gist of it. Trump most likely wants to avoid bad press or bad optics but I could also totally see an action like this backfiring, with Trump making an example out of Denmark. To basically show the other vassal states who owns them.
Now do I think that is gonna happen ? No . The USA will annex Greenland . The EU will write a strongly worded letter and thats the end of it.

I think the same too. I'd love to see the alternative happen though, I wonder how many eurolibs would understand their position though, or will they still envelope themselves in cognitive dissonance about the reality of their vassalage.
I will say I cant "really" predict Trump . Plus his state isnt really getting better there is a chance he just wants to be remembered (no matter how ) thats where the real fun begins but at that point we are in the realm of pure speculation. LIke theres a shot of us entering the cool zone but I really dont see it.
Honestly I hope it happens. The Americans are shown to be rabid beasts and Europeans are shown to be pathetic cowards who get their lunch eaten. Win-win.
Nah they'd do something like shut down their MS Office 365 services.
please please please do this i would love to have a reason to go absolutely apeshit. The moment my insulin becomes unavailable, a timer will have started counting down until my inevitable ketoacidosis coma but I won't be the only one dropping like a fly before I seize out or become incapacitated I guarantee you
Some of you are going to die but that's a price I'm willing to pay.
Seriously though can you go to Canada to stock up?
Thank goodness the people who need insulin can usually wait most of a decade between injections
You are telling me a livesaving, chronic daily use and expensive drug with a market of 3 million people is all imported into the country that developed said drug in the first place?
I thought pharmaceuticals where one of THE key industries in the US
The only key industry(ies) in the US is slavery and oppression maybe.
I think there is some research done wrt pharmaceuticals but I think the bulk of manufacturing is done elsewhere.. India , Mexico, Turkey etc.
They make drugs with patents they can use to exploit sick people, insulin doesn't fit the bill
the way to make money on insulin is by making new formulations (different release rates etc) and by making fancy delivery devices (pens, pumps etc).
all of which are legitimately helpful and puts years on people's lives compared to plain old insulin and needles. it makes you wonder what other innovations might be possible if profitability wasn't the main motivator.
insulin was invented in canada, which probably also mostly imports it. the inventor famously sold the patent for $1 to a hospital or something so that it would be manufactured in a non-profit method for the benefit of humanity.
Canada does import its insulin...like all of it. The country it imports most of its insulin from? The US. Though it also imports a bunch from Europe (with Denmark being its fastest growing supplier). If the US stopped getting insulin from Denmark (assuming literally any of this screenshot is true, which I dunno), then Canada would likely have to massively increase imports from Denmark (which Denmark would be looking for new partners to take up that big market loss), and to be honest, then I bet the insulin from Denmark would go through Canada to the US anyway.

A nice, stable, efficient supply chain.
Just because the US designs and owns pharmaceuticals, doesn't mean they're actually the ones that manufacture them.
Sorry this doesn’t compute at all.
Denmark’s economy is currently over-reliant on Novo Nordisk, whose ecosystem comprises nearly 10% of Denmark’s GDP and 40% of its export revenues. 60% of Novo Nordisk’s export revenue came from the North American market.
It is not a weapon that Denmark can use, but the other way around - it can be weaponized by the US. If the US restricts Denmark’s access to US market, then it will kill Denmark’s economy and drive it into recession immediately. Who’s going to replace the US consumers? Is China going to step up and import from them?
The effect on the US is that diabetic and clinically obese patients get screwed, but for Denmark it’s the national economy going down. You don’t want to play with fire like that.
those people don't need insulin, they need a healthy diet of beef tallow and apple cider vinegar
Not only all that but the insulin still won't be free thanks to for-profit healthcare!
Better yet, it will drive prices through the roof because of the free market supply and demand!
Fuuuuuuck
some of you will die, but that's a price I'm willing to pay
What is the source of this post? Who are these people? I don't even know what's being discussed here but the content doesn't seem to match the headline.
The first two suggestions are awful since they would mostly result in deaths among ordinary people (wealthy can just pay more for insulin). If you want to harm American oligarchs like in the third suggestion go for it but killing regular people is a bit ehhhh
And cheering on those potential deaths of regular people is something only Conservatives do. Even libs know better than to cheer for those types of deaths (yes they don't do much if anything to prevent them). The people in this thread are literally acting worse than libs...

I said ordinary people not politician

Novo Nordisk is owned by Denmark? Or is this Private corporation suddenly going to decide to put people above profit?
It's a publicly traded corporation.
