Investment banks are still hiring like crazy but they tend to churn through people you can’t really survive in one long term cos they quite literally grind people into dust. My place hasn’t hired a single new person since 2020 and our team has only seen cuts and its hitting breaking point but theyre having fun seeing how few people are needed to run the team it seems.
If we ask for new people the answer is always offshore. But only for tech people, project managers get replaced instantly

The "Israel/Palestine" thing is infuriating me.
Reads like a person that isn't pro-Israel to me. They're acknowledging that it is Palestine but if they just say Palestine that could be confused for Gaza, so they're also saying Israel to make it clear they're within the borders currently labelled Israel. Also they're trying to get out, so there is that.
Doesn't "engineer with no local citizenship" imply they are Palestinian?
I read it as no local citizenship in whatever other countries they're trying to flee to

This isn't an Israel exclusive thing, it's an everywhere thing. With the end of COVID lockdowns and the introduction of AI, getting a job in the IT industry or even just software development is much more difficult than before.
This graph is amazing to me because my leadership at my job, during all of 2022-2024 was LAYING PEOPLE OFF and saying "oh it's time to cut costs" while everyone else was expanding. Today, it's not like they're doing the inverse of everyone else and hiring. nope they're still laying people off.

( I guess they could be a Palestinian in Israel proper, but if that's the case there's a reason no one in Israel is hiring you buddy)

tbf a good amount of younger folks born and raised there are rejecting the brainwashing and propaganda. Not a substantial enough movement to put a dent in the machine, but still noteworthy enough.
Whatever that graphic is is way too small to read and it seems the lynchpin of the whole post.
