  1. Abolish ICE
  2. Arms embargo on Israel
  3. Medicare 4 all

Bare minimum policies for any serious opposition party right now.... These MFS are so pathetic

[–] Meh@hexbear.net 44 points 1 week ago
  1. Permanent housing for every ICE employee barbara-pit
[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

I think there's room for a "deport all ICE goons to CECOT" plank

[–] hotspur@hexbear.net 65 points 1 week ago

That is an amazing photo choice for the article, talk about matching the image to the lede. Slinking away backstage…

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Abolish it or shut da fuck up you useless blowhards.

[–] goferking0@hexbear.net 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They will do neither, as is tradition

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 35 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Come the midterms, they will try to campaign on giving more money to ICE so they can have better training.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago

Giving more money to ICE so they can have better training.

Unbidden - I can hear Chuck Schumer's voice in my head. "The problem is training. ICE needs more training. CBP needs more training. Our BetterTraining initiative is..."

I made myself sick.

"Look, we can't just get rid of ICE altogether, they're vital to protecting our democracy. But what we can do is vote for a better ICE, one that is better trained, and better equipped to handle the dire situation the US as a country is facing today. Is it a perfect solution? No. But it's the best decision we have available to us and I'm happy to support even a minuscule change for the better! Skibbidy rizz yolo!", she says with tears rolling down her cheeks and an American flag with a blue line waving backdrop on Zoom.

Annoying redditors: "actually rich people want immigrants they bring in cheap labour"

Meanwhile both bourgeoisie parties want as much anti immigration policies as possible

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 63 points 1 week ago (3 children)

At least a large subset of the rich do want immigrants for cheap labor, but they also want them to be terrorized and forced into a legal limbo to have a completely "disciplined" workforce. Some are just so racist that they don't want them, of course.

yes this is what those idiots miss, is that "banning immigration" doesn't equal zero immigrant labor. It just means the immigrant labor is illegal, accepts terrible conditions and pay and will be deported the moment they make any trouble, ask for a raise, attempt to unionize or are no longer needed.

This means it will drive down total wages and conditions for the average worker even further than widely legalized and protected immigration, which at least has the floor of minimum wage + payroll tax + basic benefits + worker/labor protections from regulators (in theory). Without that floor, their wages and conditions will deteriorate even more rapidly.

Just like the existence of a slave class in the early USA made life worse for free workers, this does the same thing. Now you are competing against slaves and people making $1/hour instead of other workers that you can unionize with.

Slavery with extra steps

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

precisely this. i worked in a meat factory in a very small town in the middle of the sticks and was absolutely floored to find that the vast majority of workers were Hispanic when you NEVER saw them around town.

These guys avoided me like the plague too. They absolutely would not talk to me or even look at me if they could help it. A kid who was probably a couple years younger than me tried to help me as I fumbled around with a machine and then he was promptly ripped a new asshole by a couple of the older guys on the line. He never so much as even looked at me again.

At the time I had no clue why. Looking back I realize it was because they were all likely illegal and did not want to take even the slightest risk that a whitey found out and blabbered to anyone. And this was over 20 years ago.

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

meat factory is such a grim phrase

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

it was one of my desperate bottom of the barrel phases.. it paid better than walmart and I had an apartment with my first girlfriend so i wanted us to have money, but it ended up driving her away in the end because i always smelled like meat

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Plenty of leftists get this mixed up too, assuming the bourgeois are all rational actors and will always do what benefits them

[–] sisatici@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

immigrants work for less compared to americans but immigrants work for higher wage compared to their own country. considering how little of the jobs that can not be exported, bourgeoisie will want them to remain in their own country

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can't pick American crops, build American houses, etc, from another country, though

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

landscaping, tree trimming, janitorial work, meat processing, etc.. all the jobs Americans won't do, unless they're paid at least triple what they pay illegally under the table

[–] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because then they can get the cheapest labor: slaves

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

It’s astounding that they apply a series of blinders to the Money Hounds before they go following the money which is what prevents them from seeing the total dimensions of the beast of capital

[–] pierre_delecto@hexbear.net 39 points 1 week ago

Charlie Brown ass sacks of shit

Yeah, his whole take on the Vietnam war is fucked but it would probably do fine with the average lib.

Doesn't sound like Democrats are very aroused.

[–] supafuzz@hexbear.net 34 points 1 week ago

heroically meeting the moment, as usual

[–] Ildsaye@hexbear.net 34 points 1 week ago

When Dems become truly worthless Porky will cut off their funding. True despair lays down a thread of vain hope, to keep its captives invested. They can't obfuscate their function as well as they used to, but they still have a role as long as the seductive hope of "back to normal" haunts voters.

Democrats like:

Rein in ICE: geordi-no

Let ICE reign: geordi-yes

Schumer’s Republican-sona’s wouldn’t allow it

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago

they will provide more funding for armor & masks, devices that scramble nearby video cameras, and training that will explicity state shooting unarmed white women in the face is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago

Worthless? They're worth quite a lot. Just not to us.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago

They had 22 years, 12 years of DaBiden to unfuck what the PATRIOT ACT allows. They triangulatedand and pragmated themselves into no-oil Republicans.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

Spineless sacks of shit. I’d call them worms but at least annelids do something useful in turning plant matter into nutrient-rich soil.
