Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

You wouldn't get within 20ft

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 35 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

then get a 21 ft paddle. simple as.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I wouldn't touch him with a 39-and-a-half foot paddle!

[–] oxysis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

So a 39’7” paddle would suffice

For legal purposes, my comment was not a challenge ;) ;) ;)

One person won't. But gather 100 people with paddles; and now we got a ruckus.

Que the drone strikes. Gotta EMP ourselves to have a chance

Cue*

Edit: unless he's talking about actually lining up multiple drone strikes, in which case queue is correct. Cue is used to indicate the start of something (from theater).

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

What the...!?

[–] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

But can a person get within 800m of mar-a-lago’s golf course?

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Depends on how big this queue of drones is

….. and all of us are probably now on a list

Can a president be held financially liable for things they did? Like destroying historic landmarks?

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 48 points 3 months ago

We can pass any laws we want, we just need to remember that we are fucking in charge.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why only financially? Why not criminally?

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Because that hasn't worked so far

We just need to run a bunch of investigations but file charges in three years, once they’re no longer above the law

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 15 points 3 months ago

According to the supreme court, only if we handle it ourselves. That's not quite how they worded it, but I gather that was the ultimate result.

If actual leftist take power these fascist will be held responsible for more than that.

Unfortunately, it looks like we're headed towards another liberal 4 years followed by an actual fascist with ideology and intelligence in the form of Tucker Carlson. Hell, if the midterms are bad we might even skip the 4 years of failed liberal rule.

I think it's actually WORSE if we have another 4 years of a liberal failing to do anything of material value for the majority of the population. Especially if they are held up as "the left" by DSA Andy's. There is nothing more damaging to the left and more helpful to the right than a normie thinking that leftism is half-assed public private partnership programs that are labeled as "communist" if their goal is at all perceived as being helpful to anyone but the ruling class.

Puppy killer Kristi Noem

is seeking emergency approval to demolish 13 historic buildings at the historic federal campus St. Elizabeths, established by Congress in 1855 and originally called the “Government Hospital for the Insane,” the newspaper reported Tuesday.

Noem said that the buildings constituted “a present risk to life and property” given that the buildings sit on the DHS’ West Campus complex, and that their vacancy could be used by “individuals seeking to cause harm to personnel,” including those seeking to carry out “active shooter scenarios.”

[–] PKscope@lemmy.world 41 points 3 months ago

Emergency.... Approval..... to demolish historic buildings. Fucking ridiculous.

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 21 points 3 months ago

Yes, whenever I'm selecting a location to shoot a bunch of people I always prefer one that's vacant.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

But don't people at DHS carry guns? I thought "good guys with guns" were enough of a defense/deterrent.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Too much credit to Trump. Trump is being given projects to keep him distracted.

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

Bro thinks Trump cares about the files lmao

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

I think he figures if he tears down a historic hospital for the mentally ill, they can't ever put him in it.

Probably have a Trump statue built in all of these locations.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

He is simply anti-life
