We have more local computing power than ever, but getting more and more chained to online services. Ah, the irony

Bazzite is a beryllium scandium cyclosilicate mineral with chemical formula Be₃Sc₂Si₆O₁₈. It crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system typically as small blue hexagonal crystals up to 2 cm length. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5–7 and a specific gravity of 2.77 to 2.85. It is hard to distinguish from blue beryl. Occurs in miarolitic cavities in granite, in alpine veins and in scandium bearing granitic pegmatites.

Each object also needs the orientation, possibly also velocity and angular rates.

Paycheck, but perhaps also safety regulations and other work conditions (e.g., mandatory rest time)

Overpromise & underdeliver

Holy shit that's annoying. Say I installed Win11 for my elderly parents. They'd get this sign-up screen after I would have thought everything was setup and ready to use.

Glad I installed elementary OS for them a few years ago, it's been completely painless (they are used to apple-UX)

Hehe, obviously not, no. I usually look at these things in the perspective of "what if everyone did this". Sometimes it makes a lot of sense (e.g., recycling), but not always.

Joke aside, I don't get this, why not bring a reusable microfiber towel instead, they can be quite small and lightweight.

Just because there's a demand for something doesn't mean you have to deliver. There needs to be environmental protections in place to avoid overfishing. The article points out a ban on trawling as a possible step, but spends too much time pointing at the aquaculture industry.

The oceans are fucked, and we need to start taking conservation seriously.

Got this update message in signal earlier this week. Nice to see them moving in the right direction, but I guess the initial signup still requires a phone number.

"Your phone number will no longer be visible to anyone on the latest version of Signal unless they have it saved in their phone's contacts. You can change this in Settings.

A new privacy setting lets you control who can find you by your phone number on Signal.

You can now set and share an optional username to let people chat with you without giving them your phone number. "

It has terrible future proofing however. Sure, apple is generally good at supporting their devices, but I'm sure a device with more than 8 would remain usable for a longer time.
