I think a first edition Corn Man sticker would bring plenty of financial security.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I mean, I can find true love and financial security later. I only have right now to get that 1st edition

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

This here is what we call wisdom.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Financial security. The other two are available in the open market. Truth, not cynicism.

[–] essell@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I can make financial security happen by my own efforts.

True Love has been more elusive because it's one order of magnitude more complicated!

[–] cliffracer_cloaka@piefed.social 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You can't. Nobody is self made.

[–] essell@lemmy.world -3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I have the empirical and theoretical evidence to prove that wrong.

Everybody is self made, not everyone will admit it or recognise it.

Off all the factors that govern our lives, from the circumstances of our birth, to random chance and our daily routines... Nothing in our lives has a bigger impact on who we are as a person than the choices we make.

[–] cliffracer_cloaka@piefed.social 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You're much more a result than you are a factor, and you're nothing on your own. Your disagreement is universal proof. Astounding huh?

[–] essell@lemmy.world -1 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

What a depressing view of people.

As a therapist working with a philosophy of individual empowerment, and seeing it work every day, I'm glad to have my view of life.

It'd suck to feel like we're all just like plastic bags being blown about in the winds of fate!

At least you're moving those brain cells a bit now, Mr. Therapist. There's nothing depressing about understanding basic human interaction.

Attention, you might cry fallacy now: Even a guy who was on top of 3 careers (my boy Arnie) recognised that he was nothing like a self-made man and everything is a combination of work, luck, collaboration, opportunity. See how far you'd get on a desert island :)

Your plastic bag metaphor was amusing, but not for the right reasons, and the exact opposite of what I'm saying. Be careful with that therapy stuff. I wouldn't trust you.

[–] essell@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It'd be fascinating to see how your choice to take this view has shaped your life!

[–] ifalas@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Since you're into philosophy now, you should look into the fact that free will doesn't even exist. Where does that leave your beliefs? Did you learn about people fooling themselves with comforting, self-serving illusions in therapy school?

[–] essell@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I'm aware that some people choose to take that view, which I find ironic!

[–] cliffracer_cloaka@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

Not in this case. None of the others are available once you choose. Hypotheticals are not for everyone.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

Its prefect!

[–] sirico@feddit.uk 5 points 3 weeks ago

Sticker is both and all things

[–] capuccino@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

the corn thing is still on, huh

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah its been growing for like 5,000 years, why stop now?

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

Decide? There is no decision here, you must buy that sick sticker.

[–] thorhop@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I chose neither!

Incidentally, I'm in the group who will statistically likely commit suicide, so I got that going for me.

[–] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 3 weeks ago

Damm bro :/

Can you put me in your will?

[–] Mangoholic@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If you don't value your life do some good with it. You ll feel better and the people you help as well.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Lpt: make friends with people at risk of Ctrl+Alt+Deleting themselves and offer to pay for their life insurance for a few years.

Either having a friend will save them or having someone who will actively profit from their death will make them live just to spite you, or you get $250k profit and the knowledge you made someone's last days a little bit better.

Absolute worst case you're out $2k but you get a good story to tell for it.

[–] RevolverSly@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

It's an investment

[–] swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

True love with Corn Man, we'll be fine for money and he's all the holographic sticker I need 🥰

[–] dwemthy@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

They're clearly all in one package, I'm picking all of them and you can't stop me

[–] AizawaC49@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Of course it would be the sticker with the corn man riding a skateboard like he is the OG Tony Hawk, proskater. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–] sparkles@piefed.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

When I buy my acreage, I will have 2 weird donkeys and a cow. And plant some corn.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Neither. I chose corn man.
