When we first got married, instead of calling me "hubby" she called me "hooby". So I started calling her "wief" (rhymes with reef), which lead to "leafy wief", and now it's just "leafy". It's become an inside joke and it's stuck.

Do you have to make the face as well ? πŸ₯΅

We call each other bitch, in the most loving way. It’s kinda awkward sometimes because we forget when we’re in public and people overhear us and think we’re awful to each other. My MIL heard me whisper bitch under my breath to my wife once and was probably shocked, although she didn’t bring it up or anything. I hope she doesn’t think I’m verbally abusive or something.

We don’t. Is it weird to be on a first-name-only basis?

[–] wirelesswire@lemmy.zip 9 points 6 months ago

No. Every relationship is going to be different.

"Good morning to you, Mrs. Riots."

"Good morning to you as well, Mr. Riots. Did you sleep well?"

"Indeed, Mrs. Riots, I did. How did your evening fare?"

"Quite well, Mr. Riots. Quite well, thank you."

Not in a relationship anymore but for 13 years she was my snugglebunny and I was her honeybear.

Biiiiii....

https://youtu.be/5LGEiIL1__s

We both thought the Key and Peele episode was hilarious and we call each other Biii....

I also use "Love."

[–] Scuzzm0nkey@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

I call her Babe or Sexy Wife, she calls me Husband

[–] tomenzgg@midwest.social 3 points 6 months ago

I tend to call them "love" and "my heart" (or just "heart", for short), a lot; much closer to an actual pet name but I'll often refer to them as "dove", "baby pie", or "love muffin", as well.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 6 months ago

Im not a pet name person. Honestly I don't even use names if I can avoid it. My wife is polar opposite. She calls me and everyone with things like honey and sugar like she was raised in the south (which she was not) no one including herself knows where she picked that up.

My love <3

She likes to call me Darling :3

[–] thelsim@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 months ago

We both use baby for each other.
Which sounds weird for some reason, when I write it down like this. Even though we’ve been using it for about 20 years now.

[–] octobob@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 months ago

Have not ever used words like this tbh

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

My wife had my number saved on her phone as < first name >< last name >, and didn't get why I found that odd. I had to change it myself.

[–] grasshopper_mouse@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

In all the relationships I've ever had, I've never had pet names for my partner, and they never had any for me, which I guess is kinda weird? Like, are there "pet name people" and "non-pet name people", and do they only attract the same type?
