It is kind of interesting how girls with dyed hair, piercings, tattoos and generally vaguely goth/alternative vibes and rebellious attitudes used to be seen as sexy and often inserted as aspirational waifus in media aimed at boys and young men. Insert the girl from Extreme Ghostbusters here

Another proof that beauty is culturally determined.

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

And there's almost always a political element to it too, with alt looks acting as a stand in for being anti establishment, and conservative types pushing their own "traditional" beauty instead (which in America points back at what was popular in the 50s).

So Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim lol?

Think this social theory is starting to become outdated. In the past, yes certain aesthetics would correlate strongly with certain beliefs. But not anymore I've found, society is moving away from it, slowly but surely. Plenty of women with piercings and artificially coloured hair who are socially conservative and go to church every Sunday. Plenty of "plain looking" dudes (no tattoos, no piercings and an ordinary haircut) who are very socially progressive and spend all weekend partying.

In other words, what I'm trying to say is don't judge a book by it's cover and don't listen to these silly youtubers. Genuinely talk to people, and they'll reveal a lot about themselves that may conflict with whatever pre conceived idea you had based on their appearance.

Plenty of “plain looking” dudes (no tattoos, no piercings and an ordinary haircut) who are very socially progressive and spend all weekend partying.

I'll take that as a compliment.

It me. Granted I don't have the money to dress nice so all my clothes are from walmart and are hand me downs.

Well, this video is about ten minutes.

i can answer that in 2 sentence: yes, white people can say it. no, white people should not say it.

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is that the same guy? Hovering over the thumbnail I posted I saw like one second of a last-sight rantsona avatar wearing a suit and a medieval helmet

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah, it's the same guy. I almost burst out laughing when I saw the rantsona, his channel is like if a specimen of an anti-SJW guy circa 2015 was immaculately preserved in a block of ice.

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Maybe the format is coming back to be novel to a whole new generation of high schoolers, or maybe his audience is just a bunch of anti-SJW holdouts now in their thirties

the 'tuber cannot be older then a teen themselves, the smell of youth is far too strong for me to be mistaken

we need to shut down the internet until we figure out what is going on

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Genz and Gen Alpha men are often very very very far right with many being fucking neo nazis and groypers who HATE gay people, women, trans people, etc. This isn't a yank thing only, I live in Ireland and they're like that here too.

I think the manosphere and shit plus the imminent demise of neoliberal capitalism and the collapse of western dominance has combined to make these young men incredibly reactionary

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Addendum: We need to shut down men until we figure out what is going on

[–] Kopfrkingl@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Gen Alpha men

So 8 year olds

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

Hey I've met some 8 year old boys who've said same shit idk if I could have even mustered together in my little 8 year old head. The Internet is breaking these kids.

creepy guy deterrent jewellery is awesome

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Creepy guys aren't deterred by it though, they're just upset they got rejected by a girl with one

[–] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

vivian-shrug my own experience dressing alt (though uh a bit more than just a nose ring) weird guys approach me way less but also make way more weird looks/comments. but i get way more compliments from women so it's pretty chill

[–] UmmmCheckPlease@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Saw someone at the recent protests with carabiners hanging in their gauge holes and notecards hanging from those with “fuck ice” written on them. Incredible dedication to the bit lol I’m not a cool punk so I hadn’t seen that before. Love when people get creative with their piercings

Edit: oh right I was gunna make a point. They got a ton of compliments from the older crowd; I just love when people aren’t aSSholes about that stuff

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago

These women are crazy because they want things like rights.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Normies stop being arrogant snobs and stop insulting people for no reason challenge (impossible!)

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

I don't know that I'd classify people like this as "normies"

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 20 points 1 day ago

I dont even talk about how much I like septum piercings as much as someone who doesnt

[–] roux@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Septum rings are fucking hot. Period. Chuds can mald all they want.

[–] lib1@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

The first picture of myself I uploaded to Xiaohongshu I was flooded with pictures of bulls and people talking mad shit about my nose ring. Remnant777 wishes he held that sort of power over my self-image

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

Looks like another case of rejection and/or refusal to be classified turning desire into hate and pathologization

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago

it's cause they can't make piggie nose on a glass, totally dismal experience.

777 is a nazi number, this account is a nazi

[–] lib1@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

777 is also Christian numerology for divinity similar to how 666 is the number of the beast. Not that it seems unlikely that the account is a Nazi account or that there’s zero overlap.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah it's both, still a nazi. The christian wouldn't be scared of showing his face

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

a picture of a slot machine control panel showing all 7s

Maybe it started out as a slot machine review channel and he pivoted to being a total peice of shit once that wasn't working out.
