Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

Funniest thing i've seen all week
I hope he has Kimmel on as a guest.
e: his guest was even more relevant
I hope he goes off on the Trump administration like they are a deep-dish pizza.
Hopefully more hosts follow and point out the major hypocrisy from MAGA. The fact that ABC/Disney flinched from such a small jab really shows how stupid this entire thing is.
They didn’t flinch, they gleefully collaborated.
Yes they should all have their heads shaven after we've ended the occupation.
It wasn't even a jab at the guy who was shot. It was a jab at dear leader.
I fear one big problem with them flinching so quickly is that it gives the Trump cult plausible deniability to not blame the dictatorship for doing the things that they are doing.
I mean, the government did not censor Kimmel, it was a business decision made by a private entity. Right? RIGHT??
is there a retired gifs com, because yeah. damn
It came out of retirement for the last election.
Section 326 of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C. § 326, explicitly declared that nothing in the statute
shall be understood or construed to give the Commission the power of censorship over the [broadcast] communications or signals transmitted by any [broadcast] station, and no regulation or condition shall be promulgated or fixed by the Commission which shall interfere with the right of free speech by means of [over-the-air] broadcast communication.
Just another rule they break on a regular basis. It is 100% intentional
How cute, thinking the rules matter.
Talking about Constitutional Law in the modern day feels more and more like you're becoming a Sovereign Citizen. Waving around a piece of paper and screaming "You don't have the right to do that!" at a room full of men with tasers and guns and handcuffs.
here's how i see them reacting: "look out! the constitution has a bomb!" bang bang
This is the best take yet.
Nothing matters when there are no checks and balances.
The checks are counterfeit and the balances have been tampered with
Well, there are checks being written behind closed doors and vast changes to financial balances
When Colbert was cancelled he did a great show. Even did a song and dance. It would be great if Kimmel is on tonight's show with Stewart.
Run for president Jon. Do it.
You guys need to stop electing celebrities ffs
You need to understand politics better at a fundamental level. Lawyers do not make winning modern politicians. Theater majors do. Charismatic business majors do.
Jon just happens to also know shit from decades of calling out corruption and pushing for change.
At least John has a history of fighting to make Congress do the right thing. He has far more relevant political experience than Trump.
You guys need to stop electing celebrities ffs
You're not wrong, but I don't see a lot of better options on the table and the guy at the very least understands politics and seems to be resistant to being owned.
If we're picking celebrities to run, I nominate Tom Morello.
Luigi Mangione.
(Even if he's guilty then he's still done less criminally evil shit when compared to the orange traitor)
True comedy and spite would be to just recite Kimmel’s monologue verbatim
