Yeah I'm not following the logic here

Netanyahu operates a colonial settler state at least partially by the graces, goodwill, and funding of western leaders

His country could cease to exist tomorrow, and those nations would continue unabated, save for some cost savings and distraught 'true believers'

ed: As someone noted below, I'm assuming it is just supposed to be a mockery of Israelis saying they're 'holding back the tide of Islam' otherwise it makes no sense

Israel is funded by the global right but it launders some of that money back into those political movements to ensure they remain Zionist. The Israelis are quite paranoid about getting the South Africa treatment. They've prepared against it.

its a pitiful attempt to yet again conflate antisemitism with antizionism, he is literally stating that jews control the world.

Israel is one of the main backers of the global right ,he's not wrong

i told you guys. israel is behind right wing movements globally. Turning Point USA's CEO is ex-israeli intelligence. they were behind the right wing riots in the UK. wouldn't be surprised if they were behind pointless racist comments on social media, especially against Muslims and Indians.

if you look at the American alt-right, they're all Israel funded as well.

If you went back ten years and said to me "there's a global Zionist plot to make the world fascist" I would have looked at you funny.

Alas, i-get-it

Man, bringing down your own funding is such an izrale move.

Putting Netanyahu into a taffy puller would be a tragedy to all of the world's child-murderers!

[–] Corn@lemmy.ml 31 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What would drive someone to even say that?

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 39 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

It wasn’t Netanyahu that said it, just retweeted the sentiment, but Israel’s allies are on global right. It is just doing the same thing as when Zionists say they’re holding back the tide of Islam and ‘the west’ would be conquered by Hamas if not for them.

I get that, but who hears "the global right" and thinks this is a thing worth protecting? Are there American conservatives who have solidarity with French and Russian right-wingers?

Israel isn't just openly right wing, 'leftist' is a derogatory term over there; Any time people are upset with folks not being bloodthirsty, they'll call them left wing even though the claim would be laughable. When you had families of the prisoners saying they wanted their families back and it was providing bad PR for Israel, a former Israeli spy was saying on national television that 'these leftists' should be quiet or else there would be consequences. I recall an interview with Abby Martin (EDIT: Before october 7th) where an Israeli was telling her that he doesn't believe Palestinians should be killed, only driven out and sent to other countries instead, and that his friends call him a leftist for not wanting Palestinians dead.

Having said this, remember that this tweet is from the Jerusalem post, a news source primarily intended for Israelis. One of the concerns being voiced by zionists (both Israeli zionists and non-Israeli zionists) is about the rising populations of muslims in Western countries; Israelis have a lot of solidarity with far right groups throughout Europe, and I recall reading that Israel funds a lot of far right groups throughout.

it does

One of the unifying traits among the global right wing (Majority Muslim countries excluded) is Islamophobia. The people this appeals to are the people who see liberal as a slur for the wrong reasons.

Some of Nethanyahu’s closest allies are also anti-Semitic, but they are supportive of Israel killing Muslims since it normalises ethno-states and Islamophobia.

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago

The other way around. A lot of conservatives are really emotionally invested in America/Area-52*

*colonists in Area-52 sometimes call it Israel

he overestimates his importance - if he were to say Israel, maybe he'd be a bit more correct, but not moreso.
