IIRC a study did show that does fuck up a lot of them. I can’t remember if they are temporarily or permanently blinded, but it’s not great for them.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why don't scientists just use nods

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 months ago

That's still amplifying light that is there. In total blackness they still don't work. In very low light they generate a lot of visual noise. You'd need to provide some kind of light source for this no matter what.

And then shows the world you look like a muppet, when it was really not an issue in the dark 😤

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 42 points 2 months ago

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 102 points 2 months ago (2 children)

lol ... it would be like an alien species flying around in a floating spaceship over a city and using a floodlight that emits powerful xrays to view everything around it, blasting everyone with radiation that will make everyone sick and unwell .... all the while the aliens capturing documentary footage of this planet full of life they've never seen before.

Ah, they seem to communicate by vomiting and bleeding from their skin. Interesting...

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I recently went through a 1 pound bag of pulled pork in a single sitting. That, was fun.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I believe you but my fun had Aliens and radiation poisoning

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Yeah my fun had spiced apple cider infused pulled pork and meat sweats. I think we are talking about basically the same thing here.

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 49 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 55 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Technically accurate, it's just millions of thousands

[–] Colloidal@programming.dev 19 points 2 months ago

It's like saying Julius Caesar is dead for over sixty years. Technically true.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 28 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Can’t we make super sensitive camera sensors that make sense in such dark environments?

[–] Colloidal@programming.dev 37 points 2 months ago

We kinda can, but they sort of require the frame to be still, which is not a thing in the deep sea.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought they claimed to enjoy photons. Fake fan!

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 21 points 2 months ago

[–] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

[–] fading_person@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago
