No. I need a blanket. Specifically my heavy weighted Mexican tiger blank, all year long, even through peak summer heat.

βMexican tiger blank;β I have so many questionsβ¦
Something like this, sold at county fairs usually by a screaming guy with a mic in front of a crowd, ... Quite iconic. Now a days they are shittier quality.
I've got a weighed blanket that is oddly not hot. Bamboo maybe? It was a gift. Air gets through, light does not.
I have one that has like a knit structure(?), so it provides basically no heating.
I also need my weighted blanket. Well, need is a little strong. I vastly prefer having over other blankets.
Can't do sheets they're far too light for me
I can fall asleep on the bus. It's fine.
Iβm so weird about this. If Iβm sitting or slightly reclined, I can sleep fine without a blanket. Once Iβm horizontal, 100% need a blanket
No. I will sweat my entire bag off over the night to have a blanket. I have been laying ice packs around my bed every night recently, to offset my weird blanket insanity.
weird blanket insanity
Nah, I gotta burrito up.
During the summer months, pretty much all that is on my bed is a fitted sheet and a bed sheet covering me.
I live in mid Minnesota (US).
I'm more or less with you, I need a blanket. For slightly different reasons though.
I have to feel some sort of texture when I sleep, otherwise I get bad dreams of falling from high places if I'm sleeping on/under silky smooth surfaces.
For those who need the weight of a blanket, they should make a loose chainmail blanket for hot days.
I would totally buy a chainmail onesie
I need something to cover my ear as I sleep on my side due to...anxiety? Autism? Some terrible deep thing I don't know about? So blanket it is.
This is painful in the summer.
I can sleep more places (I'll place my hand over my ear) but because I'm contorted it won't be a good or long sleep.
I converted sweat pants into shorts and the length i took off i was able to fold in half inside of itself so it made a double layered tube. It's been a great sleepy mask because it covers ears and eyes thoroughly without making my head too hot. Maybe this can be an option for you?
I've tried doing that with headphones that are a band, basically, and I move too much and the thing either yeets off the top of my head or gets uncomfortable and twisty. I could try with different fabric maybe.
Every summer I have to re-learn how to sleep without a blanket. I used to turn on the air conditioner so my room is cool enough to sleep with a blanket before I realized that's dumb as hell.
Room temperature above 24Β°C, no blanket. Above 26Β°C, I don't even need a sheet, but I'll usually keep it, because cold air from the A/C sometimes disturbs me.
I know plenty of people who insist on cooling their room at night so that they can be comfortable under a blanket.
seems like they are willing to invest energy, so they can feel comfortable with a blanket, interesting!
I can on couch but not bed.
You have never visited a tropical country I presume.
I frequently sleep without a blanket in front of a fan, Its too hot and humid for anything else.
Most of the time I sleep with a thin sheet, no comforter or blankets needed. In the winter I might use a few blankets when it gets cold.
I can sleep without a blanket, but only if I'm wearing at least pants, socks, and a shirt, so idk if that counts lol
The additional clothing acts as your blanket weight lmao
No. Even in the summer during a heatwave I was sleeping with a 15 tog duvet because I need the weight, until I got a weighted blanket which is much more comfortable. I can fall asleep on the couch without a blanket though which is weird, just not in bed.
I can sleep on the couch if Iβm dressed in bed Iβm usually just in underwear.
Do weighted blankets retain heat all? I love blankets, but it has been difficult to use anything more than a thin sheet (and even that is often stretching it) when it is crazy hot outside and the upstairs isn't cooled well by the AC.
They seem pretty good for not trapping too much heat, but we have quite cool summers here so what I would consider an unbearably hot day is probably different to most people. I could comfortably sleep in it under 24Β°C, anything above that and I can't sleep no matter what type of blanket I have anyway. There are cooling ones made of cotton that might work if you're in a hotter climate but they cost a fair bit more.
sleeping: yes
falling asleep: with difficulty
I wouldn't choose to, if I didn't have to, I guess? But I wouldn't say I have a lot of trouble if it's too hot for one
If I'm camping, absolutely. Preferably in a hammock. It's hot as hell where I live.
Summer time, yes. I run hot and just need a pillow
Winter a bed sheet is generally all I need. I do that like to sleep and sweat
Rarely if it gets hot enough, I'll toss the pillow aside first.
But I'm also the same person who voluntarily sleeps on a padded sheet of plywood instead of a mattress
I have a weighted blanket. Some nights itβs the best. Some nights I feel trapped by the weight. That aside, I find that if I keep one leg out my body temp is just fine. Otherwise, I get too hot. But also, some nights my leg gets too cold and I need to cover back up.
~βNormalβ is a privilege I cannot afford.~
Nope. Canβt even recall the last time I tried.
And I think some amount of weight helps. I have a down sleeping bag that is almost too light and I vaguely recall trying to sleep with a Mylar blanket sucking. (But that could have been other factors.)
Seems like I am not the only one, though I hope I can stop using a blanket in the future as a minimalist sleeping experiment.
No, I need something to keep a pocket of warm air around me, unless:
- It's hot enough I'd sweat with the blanket on
- I'm tired enough I'm actively fighting to stay awake
- I'm wearing something equivalent to a blanket like a puffy jacket (for the times I was exiled to the couch in college)
Sometimes I like to double up
Up until my mid-twenties, yes. Lived in a tropical country and no A/C, just fans. I only started using a blanket when I finally lived in a place with A/C.
If a sheet counts as a blanket no. I need at least a sheet.
I can only sleep with a blanket too. If I not covered by a blanket the monsters will get me!
It's really hard, but it's been consistently like 90-95 degrees outside and I don't have A/C. Kinda had to get used to sleeping with a fan blowing directly on me. I still miss my blanket though, as soon as the fall comes I will return to burrito.
Still, it's better with a blanket, it's like saying the brain feels protected. Of course, I slept without a blanket, but for that you have to be incredibly tired, so much so that you won't care where and how you sleep, even in a barn, as long as it is quiet and nothing disturbs.
I need it to sleep comfortably, but airconditioning is not common here so when it's 28 degrees Celsius inside the blanket gets yeeted. Having all balcony doors open without really any light cover and sleeping on a bed without any cover feels very exposed. But at lest it makes it somewhat bearable. This is only like 3 days a year tho, I really try to avoid it
I try to, but I never actually reach unconsciousness until I inevitably get cold and pull the sheets or blanket over my body to some degree. I find that on particularly hot nights, it's enough to drape a sheet over my waist, so long as my feet are outside.
