A video recorded last week has ignited outrage online after it captured ICE agents violently arresting two brothers in South Norwalk, Connecticut, in broad daylight without producing a warrant. The men, identified as Ricardo Chavez and his brother, reportedly hold legal status to live and work in the United States.

The footage (credit @alwaysfilmthepolice) shows plainclothes ICE agents forcibly detaining the men in a public area. Witnesses say the agents refused to provide identification or present a warrant when asked, instead resorting to physical force and a taser to subdue the brothers before hauling them away. They also allegedly damaged their vehicle.

Community members who know the Chavez family insist that both men are law-abiding residents with valid documentation. “They work, they pay taxes, and they belong here,” said one South Norwalk resident who witnessed the arrest. “This was nothing short of a kidnapping.”

Dont you guys have the ENTIRE amendment against this shit? Wear a strap, conceal carry and if somebody tries to literally kidnap you, just protect yourself.

I imagine for most, outside of a larger organised effort, the calculus is fairly simple. ICE agents are likely "itching" for someone to reach for a piece, for an excuse to shoot an "illegal". And it's not like law enforcement's going to show up acting all reasonable to a scene with dead ICE agents too. Anyone shooting an ICE agent would get plastered all over FOX not as a defender of individual rights, but as a case in point for the propaganda machine.

Resisting is an almost certain death warrant. Not resisting you maintain 'hope' that reasonable minds will win out in the end / that you'll only be locked up for a short time.

You are right in your assessment, but unfortunately, if nobody starts with active defense, it will only get worse and more "accepted" by society. That is how indoctrination is done, in small steps, "checking the water" for whats accepted by the masses and whats not, slowly pushing more and more into the extremes.

Imagine, I got a 7 day ban on Reddit for saying it would be funny if someone stole an ICE dick’s car and left him standing there with his little mask.

These guys deserve so much worse than being stranded like that. And Reddit is ri-god-damn-diculous.

Yep, MAGA is filled with fucking neo-Nazis who want to turn the USA in to 1930's Germany.

Alleged ICE agents. They haven't identified themselves, can we really say they're federal agents?

Watching this shit happen in America from afar really is a mind fuck. I continue to fail to understand how Trump can still have any support is beyond me. The facism is just so god damn blatant at this point

Racism. The answer is racism. His white supremacist supporters love watching masked secret police beat the shit out of brown people. Then they’ll blame the next closest person when the food stops being produced and the farm food all rots on the vine

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that resonated with me "Stop pretending your racism is patriotism"

It reminded me of something an African American woman said to me during college more than 20 years ago "I always watch out for people that love to fly the American flag because you never know what that really means."

And beyond racism it is happening in blue cities.

His supporters are primed to think that cities are dangerous places already, and that a city led by liberals is in shambles, and that all the people living there are lawless liberals that deserve punishment.

They are cheering about this because they see it as sending their troops to go hurt others. Whether those people are other because of their race, their religion, their gender, their sexuality, or their political beliefs.

And when these same people find out that something about them or a loved one makes them other they will act shocked. They will protest that they aren’t an other they are in the in-group.

And then they will learn the true nature of fascism. The in-group is constantly shrinking, because there must always be an other to blame. And they will learn that lesson too late.

'Muricans should have more than enough guns. Where are they now? Hiding like rats, waiting for the Nazis to fully take over?

Organized federal financed paramilitary units with a hierarchy and a support structure and a multi-billion dollar PR budget are going to outperform random disconnected vigilantes who are too afraid to so much as wave at one another.

This is the same problem the Spanish Anarchists had against Franco. Its the problem German and Italian Communists had against the Fascist/Monarchist alliance. It's the problem the French Resistance had against the Nazi occupation and the Hamas / Hezbollah resistance has had against the IDF.

Simply owning a firearm isn't enough. You need a community of like-minded people operating in concert towards a recognized goal. That's the difference between the Vietcong and Ruby Ridge. That's what separates successful insurgencies from "lone wolf waterboarded to death in Gitmo blacksite".

Joining the Nazis.

Blue states have encouraged disarming while the red are stockpiling. Wonder who ICE are targeting....

[–] modus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Man I want to walk up behind the Nazi in that third pic and kick him in the grundle so hard.

This is eventually going to result in a new Black Panther or Guardian Angel group like the 60s/70s.

Will be interesting to see these masked pieces of shit face some actual competition brandishing fucking rifles.

[–] iridebikes@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe the citizens with guns need to show up when kidnappings are going down... Might change the new ICE employees minds.

I have no idea how not a single ICE agent has been killed yet?
Apparently the good guy with a gun is a myth.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 168 points 2 days ago (8 children)

Because they don't try this shit with people who look like they can hit back, most of those have real arrest warrants on them so they can leave that for local and state cops to deal with and just focus on ambushing students and day laborers and people with small children

Remember in 2019 when Hong Kong protestors called the US for help?

Yeah... about that... 👀

(I saw the image and I immediately thought of Hong Kong)
