I once pointed out that south korea has essentially been occupied for generations, and the person responded by saying that's just proof koreans are genetically incapable of running a government if north korea is what they do when left to themselves. That'd be nice. I'd like it to occur with my extended family unharmed as well with whatever form unification takes.
Absolutely. I have too many friends and friends with family over on the peninsula. My hope, even if faint, is that waning US influence as an empire will result in the US leaving Korea alone, and gradual reunification. I know that won't happen without some violence, but my hope is that such violence would be minimal compared to the devastation a reignited Korean war would bring.
The reason the peninsula is not unified is because Kim Jong Un would win the elections.
