Oh, this is a classic. Here's the full image:

And among the many, many amazing reference posts that followed it, this is my favorite:

youthful-pills' response made me irrationally angry

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If they were trolling, it would be top-tier. Just ignore the fucking obvious, tell them that they're wrong, and then condescendingly tell them to educate themselves.

They censored "fucking" (kind of), but not "shit"? What should Jesus say?

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago

Jesus should say:

Cut that fucking shit out.

I saw a more fleshed out version with the quote: "Colour theory don't mean shit when you're leaving blood trails". I think about that when colour theory and this meme are being discussed.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

That's a great title, lol.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 37 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Literally any other color would be better.

Incorrect.

Brown would be worse.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

a combination of red and brown would be chef's kiss

The precise shade of reddy brown is called "entrail"

Having played the Half-Life games, that tells me that the place is infested by headcrab zombies.

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Fun fact about color theory: it’s situational and tied to context. You can’t just follow it blindly like some moron.

Beyond the basic “red means stop” or “blue feels calm” stuff, there are cultural associations that can’t be ignored. Take purple and green, for example. In the U.S., you’ll rarely see them paired in a corporate brand because pop culture, especially comics, has used that combo for villains so often. Think the Joker, Green Goblin, Maleficent… it’s baked into the visual shorthand.

Like it or not, those patterns get lodged in a culture’s collective subconscious. People will still use the combo, but someone who dislikes it often can’t explain why. The reason is decades of media have trained their brain to read “purple + green = bad.”

Same with red streaks. Our monkey brains connect it to danger or injury almost instantly. That one’s probably wired into us from way back. See blood, assume something’s wrong.

There's also the fact that it's, y'know, a hospital.

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Aye, I was more pissed about this color equals this emotion logic thrown out by the idiot in the screenshot. Also the person using it in this context transcends ignorance to a new level of stupid unfounded.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 week ago

A new level of stupid unfounded" is my new favorite phrase

[–] Eq0@literature.cafe 4 points 1 week ago

Thanks for explaining why I “love” green+purple, but somehow always shy away from it… looks great, feels odd

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 27 points 1 week ago

Stated with so much authority, and "blood, gore, injury" etc aren't even included. What a bloody idiot.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It certainly does take a lot of willpower and strength to drag a body that far.

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Especially when you take the wrong door and have to drag it back out again.

[–] tiramichu@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

I interpreted two bodies dragged into the same room from different directions.

[–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Posture is important. If you turn the body face down and hook their feet in your hands, you can hoist with a straight back and walk. Don't try to walk backwards while dragging, because that'll cause you to stoop and could hurt your back!

[–] Birch@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

If it were teal with purple streaks, it'd look like the jazz cup design from the 90s. Much cooler than the current 'ISIS video studio' design.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

are we going to ignore that they put "lust" as a negative?

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

It absolutely can be, I'd argue more often than not

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

maybe I'm too far gone. but I consider lust a good emotion.

Original 1984 Nightmare on Elm Street.

[–] rat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

Going off of the url, Nightmare on Elm Street. Not sure which one though.

[–] potoo22@programming.dev 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It looks more like brown on my screen, which could look like something else: as if a dog pooped in the hall and a Roomba ran over it.

[–] swemg@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago

Or dried blood

ffs they could’ve done something as easy (and given less paint used, possibly cheaper) by putting little hearts down. But no, some idiot heard the word abattoir and decided that art style would fit right in at a hospital.

[–] abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It could've been blue, in remembrance of the smurf massacre

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

His eminence Gargamel the Heroic would never allow such a remembrance

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Smears of almost ANY color is a terrible idea for hospital decor. I think blue and purple are the only ones that maybe could pass but it's still a bad idea

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Especially if you build your hospital in the 90s.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago

This can't be real

This isn't real, right? Nobody is THAT dumb

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The pompousness of the poster makes me blood red mad.

[–] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 week ago

Theory vs experience

[–] beejboytyson@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

It's good to be open minded, just don't let your brain fall out.

[–] biotin7@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 week ago

How about Blue ?

[–] Zaphod@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 week ago (3 children)

That's red? Looks more like brown in that photo

[–] licheas@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

fun fact, old, dried blood turns brown. Just saying.
