Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

The hat needs to be more pointy and more straight.

I'm using this, and sharing it with everyone I know.

We are paying for the billionaires' tax cuts through tariffs now.

Your grocery bill going up? This is why.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 28 points 15 hours ago

It's only starting. It'll go up more now that the harvests are supposed to be coming in. And once the non-harvested wheat isn't made into flour, and the excess veggies aren't frozen and canned. It's all going to go up this fall.

Congratulations on getting what you voted for.

Living in the US. Before I buy anything, I do my best to check the manufacturer out to see that it comes from a blue state. Check on Goods Unite Us to find out if they donate more to Republicans or Democrats. I am postponing or self-performing tasks and work that would require a "trade", since I'm guessing those people are more conservative anyways. Sorry to any reasonable peopIe I may be accidentally boycotting.

I know it's not perfect, but its at least something.

All efforts great and small.

If you need trade labor your best bet is going to be ensuring the labor is union. Still probably conservatives but I've known my fair share of progressives in trade unions.

Time to fire some more statisticians.

Gotta get rid of whoever is reporting the numbers. Use God-Emperor Trump's tried and true tactic: if you can't see it, it doesn't exist.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

We're not going to forget what republicans did, and what they are. When the mobs start coming for them, how long before the body guards and cops decide that it's not worth dying over some corrupt shit bag and just step aside?

I mean that's what Republicans wanted, a return to mob rule, and the days of lynchings. They might actually get what they wish for

You know what keeps me up at night? Democrats get elected into power and just leave shit all broken. I mean, sorry to say but that is the pattern we've seen from them for decades now.

Now, please don't get me wrong, I am NOT saying "both sides same, blah blah". I just don't really believe there's anyone in the Capitol who is actually fighting for me anymore, save perhaps a tiny few who have no realistic chance to help. Not Bernie's fault they fucked him over, for example, and I have mad respect for him. But one man, maybe one or two allies, standing in front of this wave of irrational hatred? We're fucked.

I keep hearing claims they have turned over a new leaf and are no longer fighting against progressives, but the Mamdani campaign, for example isn't giving me much faith that this is true. You may very well be correct to worry about this.

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 3 points 40 minutes ago

Same. That bs excuse of Jeffries not endorsing him, ‘I live 10 miles outside the city, y’all figure out your politics,’ was just trash. Not nearly as bad as others (gillibrand and the former gov, forget his name especially), but come on man.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago

I'd wager that the people of Nebraska will though.
