I will never stop being amused at Xi going to rural villages and checking out their cooking and then saying some advice that would belong in a loading screen tip along the lines of "eating grains like millet and corn in addition to rice is good for your health".

Unlike in the West, where ghouls like hillary-apartment only visit as part of the electoral circus, a true leader visits all year round. xi-cooking

That is literally what I want from my government. We need officials going around and giving PSAs to adults. That is useful. I just had my first dentist visit in forever, my shit wouldn't be nearly as fucked if my local representative went door to door every once in a while and reminded people of the importance of oral hygiene. If dental care hadn't just gotten covered, itd be even better. But they should do both

I hate how old I already was when I learned that I'm supposed to brush gently to spare my gums, and leave it to the floss to clean between things, and that I should spit but not rinse if I want the fluoride in the toothpaste to be effective. The US needs barefoot doctors, but if it had them they would be burned as witches

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

This post taught me not to rinse

[–] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This reminds me of the glorious days when our big Soviet neighbour was still around and we had these PSAs come on TV every day.

They were just voiced PSAs or these little movies, example here is about good manners. And here's a whole song about excessive alcohol consumption. They always started with the same intro of a hand snapping it's fingers and pointing at the viewer.

The one about being careful about other peoples medication where a child goes to their grandparents medicine cabinet mistaking all the colourful pills for candy scarred me for life, lol.

These were also in childrens shows, there was a cartoon one about being careful of thin ice in the winter and how you rescue someone who falls into ice where a teddy bear falls in and his friends rescue him with a neck scarf. When neoliberalism came it was banned as it was deemed "too traumatizing".

i raise you an irish drink driving PSA
content warning: simulated child death

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

That's not bad but I saw it coming from a mile away. It is kinda odd how it kinda still shows the drinking in the pub kinda positive, like its bright lighting and the beer looks like it's from a beer commercial. Its like they're doing a PSA about not drinking and driving but decided to still depict the drinking part as good and fun.

Oh my god wtf! That chef one is horrifying. Accurate, but jesus christ! First I thought it's going to be about the ring getting stuck to some mixer and bye bye hand, but no.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'll give em this...it worked on me.

[–] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah I'm gonna be a lot more paranoid about slipping in the kitchen after this. Thank f I had not seen this when I still worked at a bakery, the walk-in oven and doughnut frier were scary enough. And flour on a floor is slippery!

The smoking one was hilarious. As an ex-smoker and current vaper they did make some good points tbh, haha.

I live in Shanghai and the local government sends the most banal PSAs to every single person here by text every couple of days. My favorite was one that said that diving in the rivers to remove underwater electrical wires to sell for scrap is illegal and dangerous.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

hell yeah that rules

[–] built_on_hope@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

Tfw internet comrade thinks it’s like a loading screen phrase but Xi just talking like every Chinese bo bo over the age of 45

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What would you do if Xi ate your lunch?

Compliment him on being able to sink five pints of Guinness & two packs of Scampi Fries before going back to business.

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Happy cake day, comrade! To celebrate, Xi has brought you a cake, so you can watch him eat it. xicko

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If im eating while standing this is also me. I eat pretty slow when sitting down but if im standing my instinct is to chomp it down fast before I drop it or it makes a mess of my hands. At work I hafe deep throated many a pizza slice and bit them off right at the crust. I eat like a duck

[–] lurker_supreme@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

Bust out the stalin-spoon and go to town on his supply of grain

[–] ragebutt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 week ago

I would demand a bite of his lunch

He probably gets pretty good food

Now we are even. Balance is restored, the world is at peace

[–] SovietBeerTruckOperator@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Wtf is he eating? Looks like an Uncrustable.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Do they have that slop in china?

[–] Gucci_Minh@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Americans don't know it yet but China has America beat so hard in treatslop it would trigger coping mechanisms if the average treatlerite American saw it.

[–] IvarK@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is this true? Can I see some high-tier xi-slop fat-salt-and-carbs treats?

[–] Gucci_Minh@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

TBH the variety is so huge I don't even know where to begin with examples. I'm just gonna link a couple supermarket tours that show off some stuff and hopefully it scratches the itch.

Treatler vs Treat Xiaoping

[–] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

one trip to an asian grocery store reveals that the whole region vastly outpaces america in (edible) treat culture

[–] foxontherocks@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

They absolutely have uncrustable in China. There are several cafes around me, in Shanghai, that sell handmade uncrustables.

[–] BobDole@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Oh, that’s my lunch actually

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This reminds me of when Western liberals went nuts about him having two teacups in front of him while in some important meeting. Lol.

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

An absolute classic.

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not my mayonnaise sandwich!

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

nobody ever talks about how starvation is inflicted in the ongoing white genocide 😔

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

This is why kkkrackers are so sensitive about the price of eggs

[–] gayspacemarxist@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Lunch was meant to be shared! Dig in comrade

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 week ago

This is ranked up there with Stalin eating all of Ukraine's grain as the biggest crime in human history.

thank him for keeping me on my calorie restriction when focus wanes

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

Is this tuna? nom nom so good

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

He should spit it back out onto our sidewalks and smash it with his foot too.
